Description
We welcome you to a really lovely character cottage with exposed ceiling beams, exposed stonework to the inglenook fireplace, mullioned kitchen window and restored pine doors. It has been lovingly restored by local craftsmen to the highest possible standard to provide a luxury home. It is equipped as a real home from home with everything you may need and more because we come and stay whenever we can (and when there is availability!).
Unlike many cottages, this is spacious, with high ceilings. We decided not to compromise on space when we renovated it so instead of squeezing in 2 bedrooms and a bathroom, we designed a luxury bathroom with a large bath/shower, a generous bedroom with 6ft bed and a landing area with a desk.
This offers flexibility so that if a couple bring a child, the travel cot or Z bed (which we can provide) can be placed in the bedroom or on the landing but please note that the layout of the old stairs means that it is not possible to fit a stairgate.
We have furnished it with great care to provide comfort and style yet remain in keeping with a traditional cottage so it is a mixture of old and modern. Take a look at the photos and you will see a modern gas fire in a traditional fireplace but it looks the part. The bed is a traditionally made Hypnos of the best quality ( not like those advertised by the budget hotel with the purple logo) but is flexible so it can be configured as one superking or 2 long singles. Sitting in bed, you have a lovely view of Norland Moor opposite, come and see for yourself.
We are so pleased with the bathroom, the first ever in the cottage which we created from the bedroom my grandmother used to share with her older brother until she left home to get married. It is sheer 21st century comfort with an 1800 mm shower bath, widening at the shower end to a generous width. The Aqualisa digital shower has a rainshower feature but if you prefer, there is also a hand held shower attachment on the bath filler. The basin is inset into a contemporary white gloss drawer unit which matches the cupboards holding the washer/dryer and gas central heating boiler. Complimentary bath and shower products are provided as well as large bath and hand towels.
The Shaker style kitchen units have been hand fitted by a local joiner along with the oak worktop to fit the somewhat irregular walls. There is an electric fan oven ceramic hob, small size dishwasher and a fridge with small freezer section. A selection of pots, pans, dishes etc help you provide a special meal if you don't fancy eating out.
The large sitting room has a lovely garden view for you to admire when you are dining in and afterwards you can enjoy using the WiFi or the SMART tv with free view channels, catch up apps and more. We love the chair with its local placenames which we actually saw and couldn't resist in a shop in Windsor.
We look forward to meeting you if possible, come and stay at Dyer's Cottage and feel its history!

Location description
The location is great if you like getting out and about. You are in Calderdale, made famous recently for its scenery as portrayed in the BBC productions of Last Tango in Halifax and Happy Valley. The cottage is in a nice residential area with views from the front to the rural hillside on the other side of the valley Calderdale is the most Southerly of the Yorkshire Dales and extends from the Yorkshire/ Lancashire border in the Pennines to the more built up area of the heartland of the Industrial Revolution which transformed the area from rural handloom weavers to thriving woollen mills. The rural landscape is mainly isolated sheep farms set on the sides of this beautiful valley but sites close to the River Calder developed as settlements due to the existence of water power and several still have thriving markets such as Hebden Bridge, Sowerby Bridge and Halifax.
It is so convenient to have a lovely pub serving wholesome freshly cooked Yorkshire fare nearly next door and more real ale pubs, shops, supermarkets and restaurants within walking distance. The beautiful Pennines are about 15 minutes drive and Bronte Country is maybe 30 minutes via the quirky Hebden Bridge. The Yorkshire Dales NP around Skipton is less than an hour as are Leeds and Manchester if you want a complete contrast. Day trips to both the Yorkshire and Lancashire Coasts are possible and York offers many delights too.
