    Description

    Recently renovated to a high standard by the current owners, Marion's Cottage is a well equipped, traditional French Cottage. It is furnished in French Country style but with modern appliances and amenities. It is handily placed for all the Lower Normandy tourist attractions such as Le Mont St Michel, the WW2 Landing Beaches and Bayeux Tapestry.

    It is also possible to get a passenger ferry from Granville in the summer months to Jersey or the Iles de Chaussey (French Channel Islands). The property is well suited to those looking for a relaxing break in the beautiful Bocage countryside of La Manche. With a boulangerie in the nearby village of Beauchamps and a supermarket within easy reach, it is well serviced from a retail perspective. Additionally, there are local markets in nearby towns on several days a week.

    The surrounding area is ideal for walking, trout and sea fishing, painting and photography and the beaches are one of France's best kept secrets, with broad expanses of unspoilt and uncluttered sand. There are a number of golf courses within easy reach.

    The cottage has a range of traditional French restaurants close by, at least 2 which offer food cooked over a wood fire. Additionally, the area has a multitude of other dining options, many of which showcase the local delicacies of fresh seafood, including some of the finest mussels and oysters.

    With any luck you may also get to see our resident red squirrel.

    Very clean cottage in rural environment, very well equipped.

    In August 2016 we stayed in Marion's cottage for 1 week with our 2 teenage daughters. The cottage was very clean, well equipped and is particularly suitable for 2 adults and 2 children since there is a large master bedroom and one smaller bedroom. The environment is rural, but easily accessible. The cottage is located next to the house of the very nice British owners Kim and Ian, who will give tips (if desired) and want to make their guests feel at home. We only thought it's a pity that there is no evening sun on the terrace (with gasbbq), especially at colder evenings. The cottage is 20 (car) minutes away from the beautiful beach near Granville (Carolles plage) with free parking. Mont St. Michel is a 45 minutes drive and can best be visited around 17.00 hours in the afternoon so you can avoid the huge number of tourists in the holiday season. Furthermore, the invasion beaches are an hour's drive from the cottage. The 360 degree panorama cinema in Arromanches and the American cemetery at Omaha beach are very much worth a visit. Very impressive.

    French Escape

    We had a wonderful stay with Kim and Ian. The property was beyond our expectations. They made us feel totally at home and were so helpful with suggesting where to shop, sight see and what was happening locally.
    We are already planning another visit for next year!
