Description
La Cachette is located near the end of a private lane which leads directly to a footpath beside the river Sienne. Situated in the middle of a conservation area known for its stunning scenery. A wonderful riverside walk meanders its way to Gavray and many other superb walks are accessible.
All prices are fully inclusive of gas, electric,and bed linen. I do not have hidden extras.
The bright and airy lounge has a sideboard, dining table & chairs, two seater sofa and armchair, large flat screen satellite TV, DVD player with selection of DVDs and CD's. Board games, books.
French doors open to a private patio and own garden.
Gas hob, fridge with freezer compartment, combi microwave,grill and oven. Coffee machine, saucepans, oven dishes, wine glasses, crockery, cutlery, carving knives, serving dishes. Washing machine available in our house opposite.
Downstairs shower room with wash basin and toilet.
Upstairs is a light and airy large bedroom with double bed. All bedding is Egyptian cotton with choice of feather or polyester pillows.
In the garden is a stone barbecue for cooking al fresco, garden table and chairs set on the patio.
Free WIFI and Internet Access.
From La Cachette you can go direct to Paris by train from the local station with free parking.
You can get a ferry from Granville and visit the Channel Islands.
We are right in the middle of some of France most visited sites.

Location description
La Cachette is located near the end of a private lane, which leads directly to a footpath beside the river Sienne. The area is in the middle of a conservation area and is known for its stunning scenery. A wonderful riverside walk meanders its way to Gavray and many other superb walks are accessible direct from the house. Fishing is available in the river within 200 yards of the gite and the area is teeming with wildlife such as deer, badgers, hare, buzzards and owls and even the occasional otter. The local town of Gavray, which is just 5 minutes by car, has a supermarket as well as a choice of restaurants, banks, shops etc. There is a very popular restaurant within 5 minutes walk from the front door, it is always best to book in advance. A very popular market is held in the town every Saturday morning. The sandy beaches of the west coast are a mere 20 minutes drive away. The port of Granville, the famous 'copper' town of Villedieu les Poeles, and Countances with its Cathedral are all within 20/30 minutes. Mont St Michel, Bayeux, and the D-D beaches are all within easy reach. There are many Gardens to visit and Historic Houses such as Christian Dior in Granville, Hambye Abbey where concerts are held in the open air.
Other activities
Ferries take daily trips to the Channel Island. There is Ice Skating and Ten Pin Indoor Bowling in Coutances as well as squash courts. St. Lo has an indoor pool with childrens water slides and there is a smaller new one in Villedieu les Poeles. Fishing by the gite.
Local events
Every May/June is the Major Jazz Festival in Coutances lasting the whole week thousands come to listen to Jazz.
Every October is the Foire de St Luc which is the biggest one held in Normandy taking place over three days. One day there are auctions for horses, another is cattle. Car boot sales, food, wine, you can buy anything from socks to farmers tractors, or furniture.
Tourist attractions
Mont St Michel, D-Day Beaches and War Memorials, Bayeux Tapestry. Coutances Cathedral, the towns of Saint Lo and Avranches. The Copper Town of Villedieu les Poeles. Jersey and the Channel Islands by ferry from Granville.
Directions
We are just over an hour 10 minutes from Caen or Cherbourg ferry Brittany Ferries. We can offer a ferry discount on your booking.
We are located 300 metres along a tarmacked lane which leads from the D238 to La Baleine. Gavray is a 5 minutes drive. St Denis le Gast is also 5 minutes by car. Villedieu les Poeles in 18 minutes drive. The port and town of Granville is 20 minutes drive, as is the Cathedral town of Coutances. Direct train to Paris, 2 hours 45 minutes from Villedieu les Poeles. Le Havre and Honfleur are 1 1/2 hours drive. Calais ferries and the Channel Tunnel are a 4 hour drive. It is a 20 minutes drive to lovely sandy beaches along the west coast.

Een prachtig gelegen vakantiehuisje temidden van bossen en rust. Heel aardige ontvangst; niets was te veel gevraagd. Mooi plekje om van hier uit de landingsstranden te bezoeken en een aantal mooie kustplaatsen. Alle benodigdheden in de nabije omgeving te vinden.
Endroit magnifique ,très calme , mais tout prés de très belle villes ,nous avons été très bien accueilli ,avec du fromage, du beurre ,des tomates,du cidre de la région. Les propriétaires sont super sympa. Je recommande ce logement.

This charming Gite is spotlessly clean, well equipped, peaceful and very private. The garden is also a private sun trap. The bed is very comfortable with lovely bedlinen. The shower room had very good water pressue and hot water plentiful. Good internet. The area offers so much to see a different day out every day - Mont St Michel was our favourite day. Supermarket, shops, lovely restaurant 5 mins walk away or lots to choose from 10 mins in car. Hosts are very lovely people, know the area well provided a very generous welcome pack. Highly recommend a stay here!
