Lovely, all we expected and more
This property was as good as the description and even better.
The directions were very clear and we were given a warm welcome by Yasmina. Teapot and snacks awaited us on the kitchen table. Yasmina is the ideal owner - providing information and near at hand when needed but not intrusive.
This property is a really good conversion - a feeling of spaciousness and light (particularly on the upper floor). All furnishings are of a high standard with very comfortable seating and beds. The kitchen was well equipped but there was also cupboard space for our food etc. The upstairs lounge was lovely to relax in at the end of a busy day. Having three ensuite bedrooms was ideal to accommodate our two adult relatives who joined for some of the week. Everywhere was clean and tidy, we were able to settle in immediately.
There was plenty of information on the area in the cottage. We only scratched the surface of possible activities, there was so much within easy reach. We walked to the neighbouring village of Coxwold (really picturesque) and would recommend the beef rolls at the Fauconberg Arms there. We enjoyed sunny days in both Whitby and Scarborough - the journey over the moors to Whitby is a lovely way to approach and both were easy trips. Kilburn was well worth the visit - the "Mouseman" musem and workshops are really interesting, the cafe there sells good quality lunches and the walk on the ridge above the White Horse was well worth the climb. We enjoyed the "foodie" delights and castle at Helmsley, another lovely, larger, village. Courtesy of the local knowledge of relatives, we finished this day off with afternoon tea at Ampleforth College. The tea was really good value with "proper" sized sandwiches! Finally, a wet afternoon was spent discovering only a little of all that York has to offer - an easy journey from Husthwaite.
We would not hesitate to recommend this property and hope we might be able to visit again.

Thank you so much for making this such a wonderful place to stay! Loved Fountains Abbey, York, Rievaulx Abbey, Whitby (especially the fish and chips at The Fisherman's Wife). The Dales and Moors are stunning. We have seen and done so much and been lucky to have lovely sunny weather. We loved the Fauconberg Arms in Coxwold (every early evening), food is amazing and staff really warm and friendly. We'll be back - so much more to see!
