    Description

    A beautiful 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom cottage in the midst of the peaceful Breton countryside. Surrounded by fields and farmland with no neighbours to disturb you yet within a few minutes of the village of Corlay which provides a well stocked convenience store, bakers, butcher, banks, fuel stations, post office, pharmacy, hairdressers, a bar and even a take away pizzeria. The house sits in a 1/4 acre of enclosed grounds with a hot tub available between mid June and mid September. Poul Bizic is a perfect base for visiting the many medieval towns, stunning countryside and both the north and south Brittany coast .... or just relaxing and recovering from the hustle and bustle of modern life.

    The cottage has an open-plan format offering a spacious living room with a log burner and a large farmhouse dining table for six. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped, with a dishwasher, electric cooker, fridge-freezer and microwave. There is also plenty of crockery, cutlery and utensils for your use and it is well stocked with other cooking items including pans, baking equipment, casseroles & slow cooker.

    Each of the three bedrooms has its own en-suite bathroom. Both of the first floor bedrooms are doubles whilst the ground floor bedroom has a zip-link bed that can be arranged as a king-size or as twin beds. A travel cot, high-chair, baby bath and stair gates are available on request.

    Outside the gardens are fully enclosed, there is a south facing patio at the front with a table and chairs for six and a stone barbeque, perfect for alfresco dining. There is parking for up to three cars on the drive.

    Additional facilities include; a washing machine, rotary line, an iron and ironing board, a selection of gym equipment, DVDs, books, board games, iPod dock and sun loungers.

    Linen and towels are an optional extra at 12/person (max charge 60) and we will also consider up to two well behaved dogs by arrangement (25 for the 1st dog and 10 for the 2nd).

    Poul Bizic is ideally situated to discover the variety of attractions that Brittany has to offer. Take a stroll around the beautiful lake in front of the remains of the castle in Corlay itself or the explore the tranquility and activities of the nearby Lac de Guerledan. The property is located with easy access to many of Brittany's lovely medieval towns and both the north and south coasts. Pontivy, Moncontour and Dinan are within 35, 40 and 65 mins respectively and make for great days out exploring and shopping for local specialities. Saint-Brieuc on the north coast has fantastic beaches and can be easily reached in 35 minutes. Alternatively charming Carnac or Concarneau on the south Brittany coast are 80 and 90 minutes respectively.

    'Our recommendations'

    With plenty of quiet country lanes, several lakes and pretty woodlands in the area you will find great opportunities for both walking and cycling locally. The fishing lake next to Corlay castle is a great place to walk your dog or go for a jog in the morning. The Lac de Bosmlac is 13km from the cottage and has a circular walk around the lake. You will also find routes along disused railway lines & the Nantes-Brest Canal towpath & coastal trails. Both the Lac de Guerldan & the Quncan forest are just 25 minutes away & have numerous trails and paths in beautiful surroundings. The Lac de Guerldan, the largest lake in Brittany is great for water sports, you can hire kayaks or pedalos or try water-skiing.

    If you like fishing, Corlay has 3 fishing lakes and there are several rivers and other small lakes in the area, all of these are well stocked and fishing permits are available locally.

    For golfers there are three 9 hole courses within 45 minutes of Corlay.

    Two of the best beaches close by are Erquy & Binic on the north coast. Erquy has a lovely expanse of sand on a huge curving bay. You can sail, dive or rent a kayak and there are several cafes & restaurants along the seafront. Binic's Plage de la Banche is one Brittany's longest beaches, it is popular with families and you will find a selection of bars & restaurants near the port.

    The town of Quintin is close by and offers 2 chateaux, a weaving museum, watermills and some mysterious megaliths. The village of Les Forges des Salles & the remains of the 12th Century Abbaye de Bon Repos are also near. The medieval town of Pontivy with its moated chateau & half-timbered houses is within 30 minutes.

    Venture a little further & you will find the walled town of Dinan, castles, forts, medieval towns, ports, islands, beautiful beaches & coastal views, zoo parks, prehistoric monuments & cider tasting.

    Deposit/Booking Notes

    CHANGE OVER DAY :
    Change over day during peak months (Mid June - Mid September) is Saturday.
    Outside of these peak months change over day is flexible, please enquire.

    OPTIONAL EXTRAS :
    Linen & Towels can be added to your booking for a charge of 12/person with a maximum charge of 60 for full occupancy.
    We will consider up to two well behaved dogs with prior agreement at a charge of 25 for the first dog & 10 for the second.

    SECURITY/RESERVATION DEPOSIT - A security deposit of 200 is required and will be used to confirm your booking. The deposit automatically converts to a security/damage deposit upon arrival. The deposit is NOT applied toward rent; however, it is fully refundable (within 14 days of departure), provided the provisions within the rental rules are met.

    PAYMENT An advance payment equal to 50% of the rental rate plus any optional extras is required 8 weeks before arrival. The advance payment will be applied toward the rent and is not a security deposit.

    The BALANCE OF RENT is due 4 weeks before your arrival date.

    Payments can be made via personal cheques, bank transfer or PayPal.
