Description
Eagle Hill Cottage is a stone cottage recently refurbished. It is set amid mountains with its own private entrance away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, yet only 2.5 miles from the fishing port of Castletownbere.
It is the ideal base for a relaxing holiday where the only interference will be the sheep roaming around the hills! It has all the mod cons to make your holiday enjoyable and is deceptively spacious, boasting three double bedrooms, one with double and single bed so it can easily cater for 7 people.
There are many walking routes around the Beara Peninsula along the Beara Way, or if that is too strenuous why not go fishing, golfing or just relax. Chill out in the patio with a glass of wine and enjoy the uninterrupted views of Bantry Bay and the unspoilt scenery of Beara. Visit the many archaeological sites dotted around the peninsula. For the more energetic, there are a wide variety of outdoor activities available including boat trips, swimming, canoeing, kayaking and sailing are available in the West Cork Sailing Centre in Adrigole.
The property comprises of open plan oak itchen with integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, washing machine etc. There are two showers, located on ground and upper floor. The dining and living area are open plan also, giving a real feeling of room with a solid fuel stove, as well as solar heating.
There is plenty of parking for cars. The cottage has its own private entrance. As the cottage is near to the Cork/Kerry border, it is an ideal base for touring around Kerry as well as Cork. The cottage itself is tastefully decorated and you begin to feel at home the minute you step in.

Location description
Castletownbere is the nearest village to Eagle Hill Cottage in the Beara Peninsula. It is the second largest fishing port in Ireland and has a population of approx 1500 people. In the most westerly part of County Cork, the Beara Peninsula is bordered by the waters of Bantry Bay, Kenmare Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. With its rocky mountains and rugged coastline, Beara is an area of scenic and unspoilt beauty.
Activities in the area include walking - the Beara Way is a designated walking route covering the whole peninsula, hill walking, cycling, horse riding, fishing, boat trips, kayaking, canoeing and sailing as well as golfing. There are many archaeological sites dotted about the peninsula to visit.
As we are near the Cork/Kerry border, this is the ideal location to tour. There is a cable car into Dursey Island at the most westerly tip of the peninsula, the only one of its kind in Ireland. You can catch the ferry into Bere Island, across from Castletownbere.
The Dzogchen Beara spiritual retreat centre is located 8km west of Castletownbere, under the spiritual direction of Sogyal Rinpoche, author of the widely acclaimed 'The Tibetan Book of Living & Dying' and founder of Rigpa, an international network of Budhist centres in 31 countries.
Berehaven Harbour is the second deepest natural harbour in the world after Sydney, Australia. The West Cork Sailing Centre in nearby Adrigole offers loads of water activities. Dinghy and keelboat training is provided in the sheltered waters of Adrigole Harbour. Shore based training is provided in the purpose built centre.
If youwant to get away from the stresses of everyday life, then this is the ideal place to be - made for relaxation. The main beach is at Ballydonegan in Allihies.
