Description
The Old Shippon on the edge of Exmoor is a lovely two bedroom cottage recently refurbished to a very high standard to create a wonderful home-away-from-home for families, couples and dog owners.
With its beautiful mix of old and new, the cottage has a great sense of charm and character. Original features including wood beams have been retained during the conversion and are now effortlessly incorporated in to modern and contemporary décor. During its refurbishment the cottage has also gained two wood-burners, the first is situated in the living room, whilst the second is in the dining area. There are also wood floors and good quality fixtures and fittings.
On arrival at the cottage you enter the large open plan kitchen/diner with elegant glass table to seat up to four for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Next to the wood-burner is a comfy armchair for relaxing. The kitchen is modern and equipped to a high level with appliances including fridge, oven, hob, dishwasher and microwave. A separate handy utility area houses the washing machine and is useful for storing boots, beach gear or drying wet clothes.
Stairs from the kitchen/diner lead to the first floor of the cottage where there is a lovely character living room with armchairs and sofa. The wood-burner located at one end of the room is a wonderful feature for the chilly winter months, whilst double French doors opening out onto a small balcony make this a lounge for all season. There is also a TV with DVD player and selection of books and games.
There are two bedrooms at the cottage, which are located on the ground floor, both have countryside views and plenty of storage space. The first bedroom is good sized double, whilst the second is a pretty twin. There is also a family bathroom fitted with bath with overhead shower, loo and wash hand basin.
To the front of the cottage is a lovely level lawn, which is fully enclosed and a terrace area with table and chairs perfect for alfresco dining or a summer BBQ.
