Description
Crooked Lake Cottage is everything you would hope for in a quiet, Devon retreat. This secluded, 17th century stone cottage is tucked away in the heart of beautiful Devon countryside, yet is only 15 minutes from the bustling North Devon town of Bideford and 20 minutes from the glorious North Devon beaches.
The cottage is deceptively spacious inside with separate dining-room, lounge, conservatory and kitchen. Upstairs has been beautifully decorated, with 3 bedrooms; one master en-suite, a twin, a single bedroom, and a family bathroom.
The cottage is full of quaint original features, like the pretty shutters with cut-out heart shapes. Outside there is plenty of space in the stunning gardens, at the rear of the cottage is an attractive enclosed garden complete with a babbling stream and small wooden bridge, perfect for children to play and explore in complete safety. There is a host of local wild-life; four and two legged that regularly visit the garden from the adjoining wood.
You approach the cottage from a charming lane through a small gate and follow the path up to the front door. You enter the cottage via the dining room and head into the lounge overlooking a garden, with low beamed ceiling, an original open fireplace inset with a multi-fuel burner. The room is delightfully furnished with sofa and chairs, TV (Free-serve Satellite), DVD/video.

For surf lovers, the beaches of Northam Burrows and Westward Ho! offer some excellent surfing for beginners and experts. The Tarka Trail, a long riverside cycle trail built on an old railway line offers scenic views and picnic spots along the Taw and Torridge Esturaries -with plenty of places to hire bicycles. Other notable places to visit are Clovelly and the superb RHS Gardens at Rosemore near Torrington - combine this with a visit to Dartington Glass and the 1646 Civil War experience in the historic town centre.
