Luxurious touches are in abundance at The Stables, a beautiful six bedroom barn conversion located in the heart of the North Devon countryside.
This wonderful cottage was formerly the stables at Parkgate Farm and many of the beams that are featured today have been lovingly retained and are now adding to the charm and character of The Stables.
Every room at the cottage has been beautifully transformed and decorated with large windows allowing lots of light to touch every corner and underfloor heating throughout. The whole cottage just oozes a magical atmosphere that families and groups of friends will love and admire.
Floor to ceiling windows in the south facing living room capture the best of the countryside views, and when the warm summer months are upon you open the doors onto the terrace to make the room even more magnificent. Split into two halves the living room has something for everyone, including a comfy area for families and children centred around the flat screen TV and wall mounted gas-effect wood burner, and a second more relaxed section with plush sofas and armchairs for enjoying a good book or glass of wine.
The well equipped kitchen is at the heart of The Stables. The traditional country cottage kitchen features flag stone floors and wood beams that give it a lovely character feel and beautifully compliment the white units and wood work surfaces. The kitchen has been fitted to a very high standard and has lots of space for cooking as well as storing food. There is also a handy central island for early risers or extra preparation space. Appliances fitted in the kitchen include an American style fridge/freezer with ice dispenser, microwave, dishwasher, double range oven, gas hob, washing machine and tumble dryer.
Next door to the kitchen is the wonderful dining area with large pine table that can comfortably seat 12 plus a high chair. The dining room is lovely and bright and can be used for all occasions but is especially good for celebrating a special occasion or enjoying a festive meal.
Located on the ground floor of The Stables are the first of two bedrooms, both of which have an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. The first bedroom is a lovely double with king-size bed and views of the front courtyard while the second is a pretty twin with two full size single beds and door that opens out onto the sun trap terrace located to the side of the cottage.
In the East Wing of The Stables are two beautiful double bedrooms, both have king-size beds, countryside views and en-suite bathrooms featuring classic roll-top baths. In the West Wing are the final two bedrooms; a lovely twin with two full size single beds and en-suite bathroom with bath and hand held shower attachment and a double with large windows, king size bed and en-suite shower room.
The Stables has a large south facing terrace area that is fully enclosed and ideal for children. It has two tables that seat six each and can be used for alfresco dinners or casual afternoons in the garden with classic Devonshire cream-tea. There are also wooden benches for admiring the views and sun loungers for lazy afternoons. Whilst staying at The Stables, guests can also take full advantage of the excellent onsite leisure facilities, which include an all weather tennis court, two children's play areas with wood framed climbing centre, swings and slide, and finally a games room with table tennis, table football and dart board.
Wonderfully located in the North Devon countryside, The Stables is never more than a short drive away from the area's pretty villages, golden beaches and tourist attractions.

On the edge of Barnstaple and in the heart of the North Devon countryside is Tawstock a village with rolling Devon hills, magical woods and lots of rural character.
With plenty of countryside walks in the area and lots of cycle routes there are no shortage of activities to keep all the family entertained. For the golden beaches head to Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton all of which can be reached in less than a half hour and offer opportunities to participate in surfing lessons as well as enjoying a spot of relaxed sunbathing. The South West Coastal Footpath is also a great way to explore the coastline. The well maintained path meanders along the coastline and through some of the pretty seaside villages including Lynton and Lynmouth, from the path you can witness some of the incredible views and wildlife the region has to offer. Cyclist can achieve a similar experience on the Tarka Trail that goes all the way from Braunton to Torrington.
For all the major supermarkets, banks and shops head to Barnstaple, which is less than a 10 minute drive. This pretty market town has its own pannier market, multi screen cinema, theatre and and excellent leisure and tennis centre.
Other places that are worth visiting when staying at The Stables, include Ilfracombe home to Damien Hirst's statue 'Verity', Appledore, Bideford, Lundy Island and Combe Martin.
