    Dated 1709 and listed as a place of historical interest, this delightful 5 star self-catering country cottage has been sympathetically restored to provide a large luxury holiday cottage of quality and character. A beautiful mellow sandstone cottage with pretty stone mullioned, leaded windows and heavy oak beamed ceilings throughout, whose wood burning stoves under inglenook fire places give a warm and welcoming ambience.

    Nestled peacefully amidst six acres of private landscaped gardens and pastureland, this lovely Derbyshire self-catering cottage is a tranquil haven in which to relax and unwind or to get together with friends and family. Beautiful self-catering accommodation in which to celebrate that special birthday or to hold your hen party, whatever the reason, Hillside Croft will delight.

    Centrally located in the scenic Derbyshire Dales and edging the magnificent Peak District National Park the location is superb. In no more than 40 minutes you can travel either north or south and traverse the whole county. Just 2 miles from the doorstep is Carsington Water with its cycle hire and water sports centre and 5 miles will take you to the Derwent Heritage Trail with its historic cotton Mills and museums. Activities abound around us with paintballing, quad biking, archery, clay pigeon shooting, golf, fishing and tennis amongst the many things to try. A visit to historic Chatsworth House is a must or you may choose to enjoy the thrills and spills of Alton Towers premier theme park. This area promises you a Peak District holiday to remember.

    Hillside Croft sleeps up to 14 people in comfort within 5 bedrooms. On the 1st floor is a beautiful twin bedroom located close to the master bathroom, which has a luxurious roll top bath with shower mixer tap and a walk-in power shower, plus a WC.

    The spacious master bedroom is also on the first floor with LCD TV and private en suite shower room and WC. Shallow stairs lead up to the second floor which has 3 further double bedrooms, one of which is accessed through another bedroom.

    These double bedrooms also have 4 single beds within them which have been specially built to be accommodated under the sloping ceilings. One further bedroom has an LCD TV. The bedrooms are luxuriously fitted and furnished to a high standard with antique pine furniture and co-ordinated linen and upholstery.

    On the ground floor is a comfortable lounge with revealed stone walls and heavy beamed ceilings, and a cosy wood burning stove is provided for those colder nights. There are 3 sofas and a chair, with a picture window overlooking the front garden. An LCD TV, video, DVD and CD player is provided. Next to the lounge and down 1 step is the dining room, a beautiful room with beamed ceilings, oak floors and a magnificent inglenook fireplace holding a second wood burning stove. All furniture is in antique pine, with a lovely hand-made chicken coop dresser as the feature of this light and airy room.

    Off the dining room is Hillsides farmhouse style kitchen. The kitchen is a delight, fitted with handmade pine units and a mixture of tiled and granite worktops with a French pottery sink. Again heavily beamed and overlooking the rear garden, this lovely room is the perfect setting in which to conjure up those culinary masterpieces and is extremely well equipped. Self-catering holidays are a joy rather in such a venue.

    Due to the new rules concerning how many people can meet in a group indoors, we have adjusted our prices to match our reduced capacity by offering substantial discounts for the next two months (10 September-09 November).
    It is hoped that these changes will not be required beyond this period, however we would like to reassure you that if they are extended then we will offer you the following options for any bookings made after 9 November:

    1. the opportunity to rebook,
    2. a full refund, or
    3. to shrink your booking to the reduced rate.

    Likewise, we would like to emphasise that should any booking made at the reduced rate fall under a period where these rules are suddenly relaxed, then we will offer you the following options:

    1. to keep your booking, or
    2. to expand your booking to our standard rate.

    We apologise for any confusion this may cause, but we have been utterly blind-sided by these rules and we feel that this is the best way for us to be able to provide an opportunity for small groups to enjoy our large, luxury cottage.

    MIDWEEK OFFERS

    We offer a further 200 discount for all midweek breaks for bookings made subject to the current Government rules concerning group sizes.

    Location description

    Derbyshire and the Peak District National Park is located in central England amidst some of the most beautiful and varied scenery England has to offer. The landscape varies from lush green pastureland with gently rolling hillsides to rugged and colourful heather covered moorland, the spectacular dales from Ashbourne and northwards provide some beautiful scenery with landscapes and rivers abundant with wildlife. Limestone walls or green hedgerows divide this wonderful patchwork landscape whilst cliffs and rocky outcrops to the north of the county provide stunning panoramic views.

    The historic market town of Ashbourne is close by and is called the gateway to the Peak District. Ashbourne is full of historical buildings with narrow streets and alleyways. Explore the many antique shops, craft shops and galleries or relax and dine in the many cafes and restaurants. St Oswalds Church is worth a visit. Ashbourne is famous worldwide for Royal Shrovetide Football held in February each year on Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday, held no where else in the world its a site not to be missed.

    Directions to Ashbourne from North via M1
    Leave M1 at junction 28, take the A38 to Ripley then A610 to Ambergate, the A6 to Belper, A517 to Ashbourne.

    Directions to Ashbourne from South via M1
    Leave M1 at junction 23A. Follow A50 towards Uttoxeter / Alton Towers. At Sudbury, leave A50 onto A515. Keep on the road to Ashbourne.

    Directions to Ashbourne from M6
    Leave M6 at junction 15, follow signs for A50 towards Derby, at Sudbury turn off A50 onto A515 for Ashbourne. Keep on this road right into Ashbourne.
