Description
Harry's Barn is a dog friendly self catering holiday cottage, situated in the Eden valley between the Lake District and the North Pennines.
The Barn stands in the peaceful and beautiful Cumbrian village of Maulds Meaburn,
the perfect base for walking, relaxing or both.
Peaceful and tranquil, it really is the ideal place to get away from the hassles of the 21st century.
Yet the interesting towns of Appleby-in-Westmorland, Kendal and Keswick are all within easy reach.
It really is an idyllic location for those who crave the tranquillity of unspoilt Cumbria, but can't resist a visit to the Lake District.
The beautiful north lakes of Ullswater and Haweswater are only 20 -30 minutes drive away, with the south lakes being a little further.
Harry's Barn really is the perfect place for your holiday in Cumbria.
There's a wood burning stove, comfy sofas in the living area and a king size bed in the main bedroom.
Children (over 5) are very welcome and you can bring your dogs too ! (see below)
We make an extra charge for dogs, however there is no charge for trained assistance dogs.
Please bring your own dog bedding and towels as these are not supplied.

Directions
If you are using GPS or route finding software the grid reference is NV626165 and the postcode is CA10 3HN
There are two ways of getting to Harrys Barn from the M6 motorway we find the second one more direct and easier to follow, it is also a lot more pictureque and dramatic with really good views of the Howgills.
First route
Come off the M6 at Junction 39, signposted Shap and go into the village. Look for road signs on your left saying Crosby Ravensworth (by the chip shop) and turn right towards Crosby Ravensworth.
Carry on until you get to the village (approx 3-4miles). Do not turn off this road. You will get to a T-junction in Crosby Ravensworth. Turn left signposted Maulds Meaburn 1 mile.
Carry on past the church and go over the small bridge on the left.
You will then pass the village school and begin going uphill towards Maulds Meaburn, carry on and as you drop down into the village you will then see a road bridge on your right crossing the beck. The road over the bridge is signposted Appleby. Turn right and go over the bridge. Once across immediately turn left and go past properties on both sides of the road. You will pass a weir on your left. Harrys Barn is the small detached barn conversion on the right hand side with three very tall windows.
Second route
Take junction 38 off M6 (Tebay / Kirkby Stephen / Brough)
Turn left onto the B6280 signposted to Orton and Appleby
Go through Old Tebay and Orton the road climbs and then crosses Orton Scar. You will then cross two cattle grids.
About a mile after the second cattle grid take the first left signposted Maulds Meaburn. The roads then descends to the village and just before the river bridge take the right hand turning (no signpost) and go past several properties on both sides of the road.
Harrys Barn is the small detached barn conversion on the right hand side with three very tall windows
Coming from the east
If you are coming from the M1 Come off at Scotch corner and follow the A66 until you see the sign for Appleby in Westmorland.
Turn off and follow the road until you get to the road bridge on your left turn, here and go into the town following the signs for Tebay.
Take the first right signposted Maulds Meaburn. The roads then descends to the village and just before the river bridge take the right hand turning (no signpost) and go past several properties on both sides of the road.
Harrys Barn is the small detached barn conversion on the right hand side with three very tall windows.
