Much loved by owner and visitors alike Birch Cottage provides a real 'home from home' an ideal place to relax after a long day out. Laid out on three storeys, it is comfortably furnished, tastefully decorated with traditional materials & well-equipped throughout. Cosy even in winter, there is full gas central heating as well as a fire in the lounge. Beds are traditional pine with firm mattresses & duvets. Electricity and gas are included in the price. Linen and towels with beds made up are also free of charge

Roomy bathroom: original cast iron bath, separate walk in electric power shower, shaver point.

Top Floor
Charming spacious double bedroom has extra relaxation area with 2 easy chairs, occasional table and great views. Radio-alarm, hairdryer

Location description
This is a fantastic location. Quietly set above the hustle and bustle of old Ambleside - where there are shops, pubs, top quality restaurants, museums, cinema, sports ground, music and of course the waterfall and lake. Sit and soak up the view while listening to the birds and waterfall in the garden, Wonderful hill or valley walks from the door to Rydal, Grasmere etc. Take a steamer trip on Lake Windermere or the open top bus to other lakes and villages.

Weekly outdoor market. Fantastic in any season. Lovely snowy hills in winter. Beautiful spring flowers, Delightful in summer. One of the best places in Britain for autumn colours.

Tourist attractions
Lucy's famous for good food & cookery school. Football museum. The Glass House restaurant with water wheel made famous by Gordon Ramsey. Rydal Hall nearby & the church famous for Wordsworth's daffodils.

By public transport take the train or coach to Windermere & then local bus 555 or taxi to Ambleside.
