    Huerta Pequeña is a traditional but modern Spanish cortijo (farmhouse) in the the award winning rural town of Montefrío in Granada. The 3 bedroom cortijo is the ideal self-catering holiday accommodation for friends and families. Whether you want to explore the famous town of Montefrío, discover the Alhambra Palace in historical Granada or simply take in the panoramic views and relax by your own private pool.

    Huerta Pequeña is nestled among olive groves just a short drive from the popular town of Montefrío. Huerta Pequeña retains much of its original charm whilst offering the modern facilities that guests require. The property is fully licensed with the Junta de Andalucia as a Vivienda Turística de Alojamiento Rural (VTAR/GR/01496) for self-catering holiday accommodation in Montefrío. Huerta Pequeña is ideally located for those who want to enjoy rural spain, yet be close enough to bars, restaurants and supermarkets.


    LIVING ROOM / DINING ROOM
    Entering the house under a shaded terrace, leads you to a bright and airy living room with plenty of comfortable seating. The room is tastefully furnished for your maximum comfort. For those rare rainy days or when you want some respite from the sun, there is a TV, DVD player and AppleTV with Netflix. In addition, there is a good selection of board games, family friendly DVDs and books. The spacious dining table allows you to enjoy your meals together but with ‘French Doors’ to the large terrace and outside dining area, you can choose where you wish to eat. For winter months there is a wood burning stove.

    KITCHEN
    From the Living Room you enter a modern, well-equipped kitchen with plenty of space to prepare food for dining “al fresco”. It has a large fridge-freezer and a separate fridge for drinks, dishwasher and washing machine. There is an electric oven, gas hob, microwave and toaster. The kitchen has all the equipment you would need to create feasts for you all to enjoy! From here, stairs lead you to the upper floor.

    BEDROOM 3
    This twin bedroom, with enchanting views to the front of the property looking directly over the olive groves to the beautiful Parapanda mountains. It is tastefully furnished and retains original charm with solid beams and a vaulted ceiling.

    There is a bright and airy landing with exposed stone. All rooms lead from this.

    FAMILY SHOWER ROOM
    A modern shower room with a large shower, vanity basin and ample storage for all guests.

    BEDROOM 2
    A large double bedroom with beautiful exposed stonework and beams. This is a cool room with a window to the back of the house, though it is still bright and airy. The room is tastefully furnished.

    MASTER SUITE
    A bright room with views to the front of the property looking directly at the Parapanda mountains. It has a super-king bed. It has an en-suite shower room. There is a stable door leading you to a terrace where you can enjoy a coffee and watch the sunrise or a glass of fizz for the sunset. There is no need to go down to the kitchen in the morning as there is a Nespresso drinks machine for your convenience. There are steps down to the lower terraces and gated pool area.

    TERRACES & GARDENS
    The terraces are to the front of the house and have panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, ideal for birdwatching. There is a gas barbecue in the outside kitchen and a large dining table to eat ‘al fresco’. There is a covered seating area for those wishing to get some respite from the sun. Huerta Pequeña has a variety of natural flora as well as olive, almond, walnut, pomegranate, cherry, apple, lemon and pear trees. Depending on the time of your visit, you may be able to sample some fruits.

    POOL
    The pool is gated, it is 8m by 4m with plenty of space to relax on a sun bed. There are large parasols to provide shade. The views from the pool are breathtaking!

    Location description

    In the province of Granada, this mountainside village was voted in the top 10 ‘most beautiful views of a town’ in the world by National Geographic. As you arrive in Montefrio you will understand why! Montefrío is a small town (pueblo) located 45 minutes north west from the city centre of Granada. It is conveniently located for travel between the provinces of Granada, Córdoba and Jaén. At around 2,750ft above sea level, the Castillo de La Villa sits at the highest point. This 15th century fortress offers spectacular panoramic views of the town and surrounding area. There is plenty to see in the ‘pueblo’ including the Iglesia de La Encarnacion (the only round church in Spain), the Iglesia del Convento, original cave houses, Roman fountains and the archaeological site, Peñas de Los Gitanos. There are many festivals (fiestas) throughout the year which includes the month long festival in August – La Fiesta Patronales de Agosto!

    Other activities

    The city of Granada is about 45 minutes away by car and is definitely worth a visit whilst staying at Huerta Pequeña. With a variety of things to see and do the city is an ideal destination for a day trip or even just an afternoon or evening. At the highest point of the city is the famous Alhambra Palace and gardens (book early to avoid disappointment). The city is awash with historic buildings and traditional architecture with a mix of Spanish and Moorish influences. Walk around the city through the covered (in summer) streets or discover little tapas bars in the maze of alleys and side streets that surround the Cathedral. Enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants in the city’s squares or take an early evening meal whilst looking at the Alhambra and its changing colour as the sun fades. There is a bus service from Montefrío operated by Alsa.
