Getting around
Local buses will take you to Patong and Phuket town for between 25 to 35 baht. Tuk tuk and motor bikes taxis readily available.
Patong Beach, distance 5 KM and 10 min driving
Patong is the most famous beach resort on Phuket. With its wide variety of activities and nightlife, Patong is an ideal place to party and play. By night the town has a bustling nightlife which includes literally hundreds of restaurants, beer bars, GoGo Bars and of course discos. The nightlife is centred around Soi Bangla (Bangla Road) however there are quiet parts of town.
Visitors hoping for a glimpse into the exotic East might not find it here, though the steaming hot streets, neon lights and chaotic atmosphere of Patong can be overwhelming for the new arrival. The key to full enjoyment of the place is to pace yourself, drink lots of water and learn the meaning of 'mai pen rai' - which translates roughly to 'It doesn't matter' or 'Don't worry, be happy'.

Phuket Shopping Complex
Standing downtown, diagonally opposite Bangla Road, the Jungceylon Shopping Complex has radically changed the face of shopping in Patong.
The 200-plus other stores in this shopping heaven sell brand-name clothes, spectacles, sunglasses, cosmetics and perfumes, shoes, DVDs, computer games, tons of mobile phones and accessories, electrical goods but it is also a great entertainment haven with a five-room SF Cinema and a 16-lane bowling alley, perfect for rainy days or to escape the heat of the day.
Central Festival Phuket, distance 4.8 KM and 7 min driving.
Central Festival Phuket is an air-conditioned, fully equipped one-stop shopping mall lying just outside of Phuket Town. If you are coming from Patong, Central lies on your left, before the main crossroads as you enter Phuket. Rightly regarded as the shopping hub of the island, Central plays host to over 120 outlets selling products ranging from silk to sushi, from Levi's to laptops, from books to barbecues - if it isn't on sale at Central you probably didn't need it anyway. It's literally possible to spend a full day here - shopping, catching the latest movies, and dining out at the range of international restaurants that offer everything from French cuisine to Japanese to local Thai outlets.
Phuket Town, distance 8.4 KM and 16 min driving.
Phuket Town is the largest town in Phuket Province and is the economic hub of the island. For the most part just an ordinary, scruffy provincial Thai town, it's hardly a major tourist attraction, but the Chinatown area is worth a quick look and there are some great Thai-style shopping opportunities too. Overall, accommodation and food in the town is cheaper than near the beaches, and can provide a refreshing change of pace.

Directions
Getting around and traveling to Phuket
By Car: From Bangkok, take Highway No.35 (Thonburi Pak To) to Route No.4 (Petchakasem Road) Along the way pass the provinces of Phetchaburi, Prachuap-Khirikan, Chumphon, Ranong to Phang-Nga Province.
Then, cross the Sarasin Bridge to Phuket Island. The distance is 862 kilometres.
By Bus: Both air-conditioned and regular buses leave the Southern Bus Terminal in Bangkok daily. Bus services from private sectors such as Phuket Central Company and Phuket Travel, are also available.
By Train: No direct railroad links between Bangkok and Phuket. Those who love train trips can get off at Surat Thanis Phun Phin Station and catch the local bus to Phuket.
By Air: Several domestic airlines operate over a dozen flights between Bangkok and Phuket daily. (Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Thai Air Asia, Orient Thai Airlines, Nok Air).
Traveling to nearby provinces: There are regular bus services from the Phuket Bus Terminal to neighbouring provinces such as Krabi, Phang-nga, Ko Samui, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Ranong, Surat Thani, Satun, Hat Yai and Trang. Boat services to Ko Phi Phi and Ko Similan are also available.
