About Chalet Les Encarnes
Chalet Les Encarnes is a huge detached farmhouse located between Les Gets and Morzine in the massive Portes Du Soleil ski area. Built in 1900 the chalet has been lovingly renovated into a luxury catered chalet that accommodates up to 15 guests in 5 large en-suit bedrooms. There is a spacious living area situated on the first floor with high vaulted ceilings and exposed timber beams, this room is separated into a lounge, dining area and bar. The lounge has plenty of seating and is made up of three large comfy sofas all perfectly positioned around the open log fire, perfect for those late night chats about the days activities. The dining area behind has a large four meter long solid wooden table with contemporary dining chairs that seats up to 16 guests. The dining area leads out onto an inset balcony with large glass sliding doors and panoramic views of the tree lined mountains beyond. In between the lounge and dining area is the honesty bar, fully stocked with a selection of handpicked beers, wines and a variety of snacks. Here you can sample local drinks such as genepi or a specially created ‘cocktail du jour’. Location description
Pure Peaks is a family owned and run business offering a stunning five bedroom catered chalet in Les Gets for Winter and Summer holidays. Equidistance from both Les Gets and Morzine, Les Encarnes is set in the perfect location to explore all that the Portes du Soleil has to offer in both Winter and Summer. Just 2km to either resort and with daily courtesy shuttles, it's a few minutes drive to the closest lifts, bars and restaurants. Les Gets and Morzine are major Winter and Summer sports destinations in the heart of the massive Portes Du Soleil ski area which encompasses 12 linked resorts between Mont Blanc in France and lake Geneva in Switzerland. The area is heavily influenced by the microclimate between Lake Geneva and Mont Blanc, which generates above average sunshine records and substantial snowfall making it possible to ski from mid-December until late April. Situated only an hour from Geneva airport Les Gets and Morzine offer one of the shortest transfer times so ski weekends and short breaks are perfectly feasible.
Direct piste access to the Pleney blue is at le Plan Morand 1km along the Route des Ys. Here you can avoid the congested village centre and in good snow conditions you can ski back to the property from this point. The Balad 'Aulps Bus bus has a stop directly outside the property with services both in the direction of Les Gets and Morzine running throughout the day.
LES GETS
Les Gets village itself sits at an altitude of 1,172 to 2,002 metres. Typically Savoyard, it has managed to preserve its mountain-village soul with its traditional stone and wood chalets and its varied historic and cultural heritage. Although Les Gets has gradually increased in size, its centre is still fairly compact with most of what you need close to the main gondola stations. The heart of the village is the Town Hall and Office du Tourisme, sitting amidst a variety of traditional savoyard restaurants, bars, boutique shops and even an Indian restaurant.
Winter holidays in Les Gets offer a large scope of activities from Skiing and Snowboarding to Heli Skiing and Paragliding. On either side of the village there are the two ski areas: Les Chavannes and Mont Chery. The popular Les Chavannes links into Morzine and includes a mixture of green, blue and red runs. There is also a fantastic beginner area ‘Les Mappys’ which is free, children friendly American Indian themed area ‘Le Grand Cry’ and a popular boarder cross zone. On the other side of Les Gets village is Mont Chery, reached by gondola the area has a variety of skiing on mainly red and black runs along with areas for off piste and there is a snow park along with spectacular views of Mont Blanc. Les Gets is very attractive, sunny and what’s more it is one of the greenest ski resorts in Europe, with many sustainable development projects, including the most advanced rubbish-sorting programme in the French Alps. Even its piste-bashers use bio-degradable oil.
Summer holidays in Les Gets are a mecca for mountain bikers, walkers, adrenalin junkies and those after peaceful relaxation, breathing in the fresh mountain air and taking in the beautiful scenery. Les Gets lake is a great place for families with a life guard supervised swimming area and a water slide. Here, there is also a bike and tree top adventure park, basket ball and volley ball courts and children’s play area. The 18 hole golf course up Les Chavannes is a must go for golfing fanatics. With pristine greens and stunning panoramic views of the mountains including the Mont Blanc massif it couldn’t be better. Les Gets is a veritable paradise where the respect of traditions, a warm welcome and top quality services ensure that each visitor enjoys an unforgettable, one-of-a-kind stay.
MORZINE
Morzine village sits at an altitude of 1,000, to 2,002 metres, it’s a traditional market town which has retained its’ authentic savoyard feel. You can find the large tourist office in the centre, a great place for information on events and maps of the area, which describes Morzine as the ‘Village of Charm’. It’s easy to see why, Morzine is a bustling place, offering plenty of restaurants, bars, boutique shops and local attractions to satisfy all tastes, whilst retaining its alpine charm and traditional French character.
Winter holidays in Morzine offer skiing and snowboarding for a variety of levels and abilities. There are two main ski lifts in the centre of Morzine: The Plenney and The Super Morzine, and three further lifts just outside: Ardent, Nyon and Les Prodains. The newly re-furbished Plenney gondola links into Les Gets and offers a variety of skiing on blue and red runs. On the opposite side of the village is the Super Morzine gondola which links into Avoriaz.
Summer holidays in Morzine flourish into a huge activity scene with mountain biking, road biking, walking, white water rafting and swimming in the immaculately maintained olympic sized outdoor pool. Avoriaz holds an 8 hole golf course and the nearby Lake Montriond is a breathtaking place with life guard supervised area for swimming and other activities such as fishing, kayaking and pony trekking. Morzine has hosted the Tour de France stage finishes on several occasions, thanks in part to the proximity of the notoriously steep Col de Joux-Plane climb. Combined Les Gets and Morzine span around 150km of marked pistes with 50 lifts making them the largest ski area of the Portes du Soleil. If Morzine and Les Gets are not enough to satisfy your skiing, snowboarding, biking and hiking adventures then the fully linked in 10 other resorts with a further 500kms of slopes and trails should give you something to explore.
THE PORTES DU SOLEIL
The Portes Du Soleil has a total of 201 lifts and 286 runs broken down as 27 black, 104 red, 122 blue and 33 green. The area has activities for everyone. Winter holidays for advanced skiers and snowboarders a key highlight is the famous La Chavanette also known as “Le Mur” or “The Swiss wall” quite literally a vertical drop into Switzerland. For the faint hearted, there is the option to take the chairlift down. The area also boasts eleven snow parks suitable for all levels. There are children friendly pistes and activities as well as plenty of beginner areas. For non-skiers there’s also a lot to do from snow shoeing, paragliding or dog sledding to relaxing in the indoor pool or spa. Summer holidays offer so much to explore with events happening each week across the Portes du Soleil from food markets, rock concerts to biking competitions. Tourist attractions
• Les Gets Lake is a beautiful area with life guard supervised swimming. There are also volley ball courts, basket ball courts and children's play areas. Closeby are the bike park, high top adventure playground and pony trekking centre. There are also picnic areas and a restaurant.
• Farm Visits are a great free thing to do with children and there are a variety of different farms available for visits in Les Gets! Most sell farm produce such as local cheese, jams and more. Children can see, hold and stroke animals as well as milk the goats!
• Micro Brewery visits are free at the Irish Pub in Les Gets where Colin will take you through how their beers are brewed. This is a unique chance to taste the Getoise, Avalanche, Rua and Rua L’ancienne. No chemicals or preservatives are used in the beer.
• Chocolate Workshops are the perfect attraction for those of all ages with a sweet tooth to get the chance to make a chocolatey dish. Workshops can be done at Chalet du Chocolat in the main village of Les Gets
• Aquatic Centre houses an indoor and outdoor olympic sized swimming pool along with hydro-fitness centre with sauna and steam room. There is also a children’s swimming pool.

Holidays at our stunning Chalet Les Encarnes in Les Gets operates from Sunday to Sunday. There are a number of ways to reach us; by plane, by train or by car. Please find some information on these below including how to complete your journey to our chalet in Les Gets.
BY PLANE Geneva International Airport is approximately an hours drive to Les Gets and Morzine, one of the shortest transfer times of any resort in the French Alps. Geneva Airport receives flights from a number of airlines such as:
Alternative airports include Chambery, Grenoble and Lyon-Satolas which are each approximately two hours drive to Les Gets and Morzine.
BY TRAIN Cluses train station is 30 minutes drive to Les Gets. To get to Cluses take a Eurostar train from London to Paris in 2 hours 20 minutes, then a high-speed Tgv Lyria train from Paris to Cluses in around 3 hours. High-speed trains run to and from the city centres, with no baggage fees, no airport taxes, no seatbelt signs, no 2 hour check-ins, infants go free, and you can bring your own bottle of wine for the journey if you like. Alternative train stations include Geneva which is an hours drive from Les Gets and Lyon which is approximately a 2 hours drive. There is a direct ski train with Eurostar which runs from December to March. Day trains and night trains are available on selected Saturdays. Travel from London or Ashford to Lille in 1 hour 30 minutes, where you will join a connecting TGV Lyria service to Aigle in Switzerland which takes 5 hours. From here change to Geneva which is just over an hour, taking approximately 7 hours 30 minutes in total.
BY CAR: Driving to the French Alps could not be easier with the choice of the Euro Tunnel from Folkstone or the Ferry from Dover both taking you to either Calais or Dunkerque. Driving time across France is approximately eight hours with plenty of opportunities to stop and rest on the way. The motorways in France are mostly toll roads, and you can expect to pay approximately €60 on the journey from Calais to Les Gets or Morzine. Driving without having to pay the tolls takes approximately 3 hours longer so could be seen as more of a road trip with a stop over. Both Folkstone and Dover are easily accessible in the UK via the South Eastern motorway network. Alternative ferry routes are: Newhaven to Dieppe; Portsmouth to Le Havre, Caen, Cherbourg and St Malo; Poole to Cherbourg and St Malo; Weymouth to St Malo; Plymouth to Roscoff and more.

HIRING A CAR in resort can be a useful way of getting about and exploring the area. The best way to do this is to hire one at Geneva airport to collect when you arrive and drop off again when you return and there are plenty of places to hire a car at a reasonable cost.
