Description
Welcome to Le Charme Cach, thus named because of its seclusion and 5 acres of beauty - our little place in the heart of the south-west French countryside. We hope you fall in love with it just as we have. We are only 1km from the village of Augignac in the north of the Dordogne (or as the French call it Le Perigord Vert) with basic amenities (bakers, bar/tabac & mini-market). We sit snugly in between two busy market towns of Nontron, Piegut-Pluviers and close to a stunning beached leisure lake at St Estephe just 2 miles away. We are secluded but certainly not isolated, so you can enjoy the peace & quiet without having to travel too far for your essentials, leisure time & eating out.
A truly fantastic holiday awaits in this secluded location yet only a 5 minute drive to the market towns of Piegut-Pluviers and Nontron, with everything you need including supermarkets, garages & several bar/restaurants. There are also a number of events & festivals on locally throughout the summer.
The grounds are managed by ourselves (Jon & Maxine). We moved out here full time in July 2014 and live in the small cottage on the far bank of the upper lake so you will always have someone on hand to show you around or assist should there be any problems & our aim is to make sure your stay is as enjoyable as possible.
Kingfisher lodge is a fully equipped holiday home that sleeps up to six people, with 35m2 covered deck situated on the larger top lake, with hot-tub & barbecue area. Guests are free to fish, swim or boat in the lake or just relax in the beautiful surroundings.
The lake is well stocked with carp with record of 30lbs so far. The lakes are lightly fished & so you can expect a decent catch during your stay. We also have a rowing boat for you to enyoy & the lake is safe for swimming for accomplished swimmers.
Woodpecker Lodge sleeps up to 8 people and is a fully equipped holiday home with decking area overlooking the lower lake, with a barbecue area to the side. We have not fished on the lower lake much as yet, but can see that there are good carp & roach in there. We are also in the process of moving the smaller carp from the top lake, so that it is perfect sport fishing for those who prefer to catch smaller but more often.
We also have a small flock of free ranging chickens, Toulouse geese and Indian runner ducks. They are very friendly and inquisitive, so will probably pay you a visit during your stay! We have plenty of eggs for sale at 1 Euro for 6.
