Description
Villa Maria is a small, family run guest house, full of charm and character that has over the past twenty years become the meeting place for many of our guests who return year after year. At Villa Maria we take pride in providing our guests with the warm welcome that defines the so much appraised Greek hospitality. Set in grounds of more than an acre that feature a cornucopia of wild flowers, shrubs and palm trees and our own private little forest of cedar, pine, fig and walnut trees that gently slopes into a fresh water creek. This natural playground provides for endless hours of enjoyment for your children, whilst you laze with a drink on one of the many hammocks that are scattered amongst the trees. A wooden made children’s play area with swings, slides and a tower maze situated in the back garden that leads to the forest is available as an alternative.
The back garden also features a lawn terrace with sun beds and the ‘Corfiot corner’. This is our attempt to recreate a traditional looking yard that is found in 18th century village houses. Here is where we serve breakfast, light meals during the day and dinner cooked by the eccentric and extrovert owner Maria. You will find a sample menu, listing her favourite specialities, in our information page. Adjacent to the ‘Corfiot corner’ is the bar where we serve a wide selection of wines, beers, spirits, soft drinks and cocktails. The decor of the bar reflects the versatile artistic talent of Alexandra, daughter of Maria.
With an unprecedented passion for interior decorating and furniture restoration, Alexandra has captured the colour and light of the traditional Corfiot house, influenced mainly by the Venetian art deco. Many of the furniture that grace the interior are crafted by the master carpenter Ioannis Fantopoulos, teacher of the young generation of local carpenters and grandfather of Alexandra. The north wall is dedicated to the family tree history with many original black and white photographs of past and present members of the family. The imposing fire place in the centre of the room is made of cast iron and decorated with local stone extracted from land that belongs to the family for generations. This area will certainly capture your imagination.
Villa Maria has fifteen rooms all with private bathrooms and balconies with views over the Ionian Sea, the hills and the mountains. All tastefully decorated in the unique, personal style of Alexandra, provide pleasant and comfortable accommodation.

Location description
A long line of steep hills ripples down the west coast of Corfu, breaking into cliffs and headlands that separate one long sandy beach from the next. The scenery is spectacular, heavily wooded in places, home to small vineyards and colourful villages. One of these is ARGYRADES nesting above two stunning sandy beaches and the resort of St George. Bathed in sunshine all day long, it has an easygoing charm that has persuaded numerous visitors to put down roots there. The beauty and charm St George remains undiminished, and a holiday here is an uncomplicated affair.
There can surely be no better way to unwind than to potter about in a boat, dropping into a small cove for a long and very lazy meal, relaxing at the end of the day with a drink on the terrace at villa Maria, dining under the stars at some pleasant local restaurant. A desire for activity is soon satisfied by water or jet-skiing, windsurfing, kite surfing or dinghy sailing, for all of which St George offers ideal conditions. Lake Korission and the cedar forest nearby provide for long walks to discover the plethora of flowers and birds that live here. This is the setting for Villa Maria.
