Description
Old Oak Barn offers unique self catering accommodation for 4 or 5 in a peaceful woodland valley and is situated in West Carmarthenshire near the Pembrokeshire border only 5-10 minutes from the A40 & St Clears. We have week commencing Friday 31 August 2018 available at reduced rate - please enquire!
The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped and contains all you may need for your holiday or short break. The two bedrooms are simply furnished and are adjacent to the spacious main living room which measures 32M2. Travel cot or camp bed can be used to sleep 5. We welcome those wanting a short break out of the main holiday season - minimum of 2 nights. We welcome children. Prices start at 300 for a full week in the winter to maximum of 795 Summer 2018.
This part of Carmarthenshire is popular for holidays in Wales and is easily accessible from the M4 being approximately 90 minutes from the Severn Bridge - on a good run! We are only a short drive from many well known and beautiful parts of West Wales which include the Pembrokeshire Coast Path and National Park. Folly Farm and Oakwood are only 30 minutes away. Tenby, Laugharne, Saundersfoot and Caldey Island also nearby. The barn is very near our 40 acre wood where badgers can often be seen. Informal gardens with small swings for children plus 2 more much bigger swings in the woods are very popular.
We have installed broadband wireless internet access WIFI at Old Oak Barn - so if you want to check emails and log on please bring your own laptop. We provide this service free of any extra charge and guests who use it find the connection speedy and reliable.

Location description
Old Oak Barn is situated on our 72 acre farm "Cwmpalis" approx 2 miles from St Clears and Meidrim and 6 miles north of Laugharne of Dylan Thomas fame. Also near Tenby, with its colourful painted houses, the famous Pendine sands, as well as Saudersfoot, Amroth and Llanstephan.
The local area is well known for its green pastures and wooded valleys as well as ancient castles and beautiful sandy beaches. The two main rivers in the county are the Teifi and the Tywi and coracles can still be seen on both. We are only 30 minutes from the Preselis. This part of Wales is steeped in history and visitors may want to visit Llaugharne, Carmarthen, Narberth or Haverfordwest as well as the many seaside towns. The beautiful coastline of Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire is easily accessible for day trips. Aberglasney and The Botanic Gardens are both only a short distance.
Perhaps the best time to stay is during May when the spring birds are at their most vocal. Bluebells adorn our woods and walking locally is at its best. Without doubt what we enjoy most about the area is the sea including the Pembrokeshire coast, the island of Skomer with its puffins, the wonderful beaches, the coastal walks and the magnificent variety of birdlife.

Directions
We are easy to find - exactly 100 miles from the Severn Bridage and only 20 minutes from the end of the M4 at Cross Hands.
Follow the A40 to St Clears and then go north towards Meidrim.
Turn left 2 miles outo f St Clears signposted towards Gibeon - over hump back bridge - round 2 nasty corners and turn left down our lane signposted Old Oak Barn and Cwmpalis.
