Description
Bayview is in one of the best locations in Ventnor overlooking the beach and harbour. It is only a couple of minutes level walk from the shops in the town centre, and no further to the beach. Yet it is on a private road a quiet haven from the pressures of modern life. Walk down to the beach alongside Ventnors renowned Cascade Gardens and you are rewarded by freshly caught fish, crab and lobster available daily from the harbour fishery. Unlike a lot of properties in the town theres a dedicated parking space directly outside the apartment.
This modern and comfortable apartment has been recently refurbished to 5 star standard with one bedroom, a generous double with king-size bed and a king-size bed settee in the living room, sleeping up to four people. The light and airy living, dining and kitchen area is at the front of the building overlooking the sea, while the double bedroom has a view of the highest point of the island, St Boniface Down, immediately behind the town. Bayview is the top floor of a converted Victorian period villa in one of the best know streets in the town, Alexandra Gardens. It stands on the site of the original Ventnor mill and pond, dating back at least as far as 1300.
Step out from the living room and you are on Bayviews very own private balcony furnished with two teak armchairs the ideal spot to watch the comings and goings in the harbour, for whiling away the day, or a pre-dinner gin and tonic.
Within ten minutes walk there are numerous pubs, cafs, bars and restaurants. These include the Royal Hotel which has two AA Rosettes for its food, The stylish Smoking Lobster which inventively serves fresh island produce, and the Spyglass Inn known for its fine ales, and waterfront location.
Spectacular coastal walks can also be enjoyed from here, to Bonchurch, the undercliff and Shanklin to the east and to the lovely Steephill Cove and the renowned Botanic Gardens to the west. Outdoor pursuits include walking, cycling, riding, golf and water sports.

Location description
Ventnor is at the south of the Isle of Wight protected by St. Boniface Down - the highest point on the island. This creates a microclimate which encourages lush vegetation and varied wildlife and some of the UK's sunniest summers and mildest winters.
Bayview is above the east of the bay which has a part sand, part fine shingle blue flag beach, good for sunbathing and swimming with nearby pubs, cafes, amusements and paddling pool. The eastern promenade leads to Bonchurch, the Island's best preserved Victorian village much favoured by prominent Victorian literati. Charles Dickens wrote part of David Copperfield whilst staying at Bonchurch which he described as "The prettiest place I ever saw in my life, at home or abroad".
Shopping includes traditional butchers, two delicatessens, a traditional sweet shop, hardware, toys and a number of collectibles and antique shops, as well as a reasonable size Co-op supermarket.
In Victorian times Ventnor became a fashionable holiday and health resort. Sir James Clark, Queen Victoria's doctor, endorsed the health-giving properties of Ventnor's climate."Nothing along the south coast will bear comparison with it" he enthused. The town is currently reinventing itself as a stylish destination with new residential development, luxury hotels, wine bars, a piano bar and a new harbour. It was recently listed as the 7th best coastal town in Britain in Coast magazine, and was described by BBC Radio Solent as the new Notting Hill.
Directions
The island is off the south coast of England a short ferry journey (less than an hour) from Southampton or Portsmouth. Ventnor is at the south of the island about half an hours drive from the either ferry terminal. Trains from Waterloo connect through to Shankin and there is a frequent bus service from there to Ventnor.
