    Description

    Our apartment is situated on the first floor of the beautifully maintained San Jaime apartments, in the lovely resort of Son Bou. The apartments are surrounded by gardens and mature trees.

    The accommodation consists of two bedrooms each containing two single beds, (new beds and mattresses 2017),both have wardrobes (fitted 2018) and ceiling fans (Should you wish to accommodate an extra person, an extra bed can be hired for an additional charge, and used in the lounge area, but it would be cosy!!!!)

    The kitchen/dining/lounge area is open plan with a ceiling fan, and has a sofa, table and chairs, dining room table/chairs, satellite television. The kitchen was refurbished in 2018, is fully equipped with electric cooker, microwave fridge/freezer, and toaster. We have also installed a log burning stove so the apartment can be used during the winter months.

    The Bathroom was refurbished in 2019 has a Shower, WC, hand basin and a cupboard containing a washing machine, iron and ironing board and a hairdryer.

    Outside, we have a good size front patio with a large patio table and four comfortable chairs for your use where you can sit and admire the sea view, and a smaller back balcony which contains a box containing beach equipment such as sun umbrellas, bat and ball and there is usually a selection of lilo's etc for your use.

    There is free wi fi between May and October, and newly installed air conditioning at an additional charge of 25 per week.

    The complex has three swimming pools (each with its own toddler pool) with the centre pool having two flumes. There are restaurants adjacent to each of the pool areas which serve breakfasts, lunches and evening meals.
    In the central area there is evening entertainment which is of a very high standard, and very family orientated with Disney shows, magicians, acrobats as well as some excellent tribute bands.

    Son Bou itself, has a variety of supermarkets and other shops as well as a wide selection of restaurants all competitively priced so catering for all tastes and pockets!

    There is an excellent chemist which can help with minor medical issues, as well as a Medical centre in Son Bou.The nearest hospital is in Mahon which has an A&E department and is about 20mins away.

    Given that Menorca has some amazing beaches and places to visit, we always recommend hiring a car, but should you decide against this, the bus service is very good and the buses do run to time!

    Location description

    Our first floor apartment is located within a kilometre of the 3km sandy beach. Son Bou is a perfect situation for families with young children. There are many restaurants in the area, very reasonably priced, with some offering evening entertainment for all. (Our grandchildren love it).
    There are also lovely coastal walks from Son Bou for the more energetic.

    There are three swimming pools within walking distance of the apartment, one of which has two waterslides. Scuba diving is also available. For those that like golf, there is a lovely course at Son Parc about 30mins drive from Son Bou. A splash park has just opened at the nearby zoo in 2017, great for both children and adults to cool off!

    Local events

    Fiestas take place throughout the holiday season in many of the towns. Craft and Food markets take place in the towns on various days of he week. The trotting races are not to be missed near Mahon on a Saturday night. All details of local events can be found at reception.

    Tourist attractions

    A Mahon harbour boat trip is always very popular as the harbour itself is the second deepest harbour in the world and has a lot of history associated with it. You can also visit some of the islands in the harbour, some of which were hospitals in various wars.

    Directions

    Our apartment is about 20 minutes drive from the airport. We recommend car hire as the island has many lovely places to visit and explore. Alternatively you may also hire a taxi from the airport. Car hire is also available in Son Bou as well as at the airport should you require car hire for less than a week. The bus service is very good and runs to time! As we are frequent fliers to the island we normally travel with Easyjet. They also offer discounted car hire. We will send out a map and further details once a booking has been confirmed.
