    Description

    The flat is in the 4th floor of a 18th century building with stone and wood staircases, and 19th century tiles in the walls.

    It has a magnificent solar exposition and an incredible almost 360 view over the hills and the Tagus River.

    The building and the flat has been recently renovated (April 2008). In the renovation, carefully done under the supervision of an architect, the apartment was entirely reconstructed, from the roof structure to the pavement, guaranteeing absolute safeness, light and thermal comfort.

    All materials used in the construction are 100% natural/ ecological: wooden structure and pavement; wood-fibbers panels for roof insulation; and traditional lime mortar in walls. All together they greatly enhance the quality of the inner environment, guaranteeing you the difference in your stay.

    Despite the big remodelling, the spirit of the traditional Pombaline architecture remains intact in such elements as the fireplace, the tiled walls and the staircase structure.

    The flat is, so to say, a 70 square meters open-space. It has cable TV and wi-fi internet free of charge.

    The furniture layout is responsible for zoning the apartment:

    * There is the sitting room area with sofa, TV set & DVD player, and the bedroom.
    * The dining area, in front of the river, also very appreciable for a late sunny breakfast, is composed of a table and chairs.
    * The kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave-grill, and electrical hob. In the drawers and cabinets you will find everything that you might need, pretty tidy and clean!
    * The bathroom is equipped with the usual sink, toilet and shower and also with the unusual view to the North side of the city!

    As it is the last floor you will have nobody upstairs (!) and the rest of the neighbours are very peaceful.

    Tourist attractions

    Santa Catarina is an old quarter which blends both magnificent palaces and 18th and 19th century housing. It has a wonderful location on the top of a hill facing the Tagus River and its margins. Due to constrained traffic access, it has a very peaceful neighbourhood. Organized alongside a small garden is the sightseeing place "Miradouro de Santa Catarina", from where you would want to enjoy the astonishing view of the city and river.

    A 3 minutes walk brings you either to Bairro Alto or to Chiado, where you can experience the Portuguese gastronomy and have a feel of the Bairro Alto's night life in its bars and discos.

    A 10 minutes walk brings you to Baixa - down town, one of Lisbon's best shopping areas, an exquisite association of modern stores and old boutiques. Baixa is also one of the oldest districts of the capital, its streets converging to the famous Praa do Comrcio, historical door from where all the spices, gold, silk and other various unknown treasures entered Europe during the splendorous years of the great discoveries.

    Directions

    At 100 meters from the flat, you can catch the famous tramway #28 that covers the sightseeing tour of Lisbon's hills.

    Just beside the flat, Bica tramway railway takes you down to Cais-do-Sodr where you will find the tramways to Belm and the trains to Cascais. If you'd rather walk note that you can enjoy a 5 minutes walk aside the tramway rail line and down the Bica quarter.

    Cais do Sodr also has a port of embarkation to cross the Tagus River. The back trip is an amazing journey that helps understanding the city's growth along its' seven hills.

    In between Chiado, Baixa and Cais-do-Sodr you have access to diverse public transportation (bus, train, tram and subway) which can deliver you directly to any point in the city.

    Thought due to the flat's central location and the proximity of many of Lisbon's interest points, a few minutes walk will be a delight while offering another point of view of the city's landscape.
