Location description
In the winter with its 225km of slopes, mythical spots like the La Meije Valleys and the world class Snow Park, Les Deux Alpes is a high altitude resort with Europes largest skiable glacier peaking at 3,600m.
During the summer, lift assisted Mountain Biking (no uphill cycling required unless of course you choose to cycle up the many 'Cols' in the area) and Summer Glacier Skiing are available from June until the end of August. The chairlifts/cable cars/funicular are open to 'pedestrians' all summer (from June until the end of September) so perfect for visiting the Glacier.
Other activities
Cycling...
L’Oisans (the area in which Les Deux Alpes is) has the most beautiful and most popular mountain passes, but they are also the most challenging ones in the history of cycling. The area spreads out from the village of Gavet (at 390m) up to the peak of the Ecrins mountains (at 4,102m). An abundance of glaciers, sources, lakes and waterfalls await your discovery.
Oisans is synonymous with legendary Tour de France mountain stages. Alpe-d’Huez, Les 2 Alpes and Bourg-d’Oisans have left their mark on this race, and are part of its living legend. The most renowned cycling races in the Alps happen in Oisans, including the Marmotte.
