    This property is 2 mins walk from the beach, 30 mins drive to famous Kyrenia shipwreck castle and the harbour full of uncountable restaurants, bars and shops.

    The apartment has 2 double bedrooms and two toilets and bathroom. An open plan kitchen and marble stairs leading to the master bedroom. It is fully air conditioned with air condition units in every room. It is fully equipped with double beds in each room, fridge freezer, sofas, dining tables, TV and DVD, washing machine, microwave etc.

    This sea side apartment is located in Crystal bay village Bahceli ( Kyrenia)is the jewel in the crown of North Cyprus, a thriving coastal town with a historic heart centered on its Venetian harbour. A Kyrenia villa holiday is ideal for those who love good restaurants, friendly harbour-side cafés, interesting shopping, and accessible history, yet still want easy access to golden sandy beaches and forest-clad mountains.

    The heart of Kyrenia is the pretty harbour, a perfect crescent built by the Venetians. Here, fishing boats bob on the glittering Mediterranean Sea, as locals and tourists alike enjoy a strong Turkish coffee or light lunch in the sunshine. From here, it's just a short walk to the mighty Kyrenia Castle with its fascinating Shipwreck Museum, or to the Round Tower Gallery for fine arts and crafts. Stock up on fruit and veg for your holiday villa kitchen at the Municipal market, or forget cooking altogether and enjoy a romantic dinner on a Kyrenia rooftop restaurant, dining under the North Cyprus stars.

    Transfer Times: Ercan Airport - 30 mins, Larnaca Airport - 1 hr 30 mins. Just up the road from your holiday apartment is Alagadi is the new Korineum Golf course, a superb competition standard course set amongst ancient olive groves and the rocky mountainside. It's sometimes hard to concentrate on your game, the views are so good! Since the golf fanatic can play to their heart's content, and the rest of the family can enjoy the lovely beach… The Club House is a popular place for a drink after a great game of golf in North Cyprus too.

    From a rental apartment in Bahceli , it's also just a fifteen minute drive to the popular village of Catalkoy, with fine restaurants including two curry houses, and a superb Sunday roast served at the Chimneys restaurant. Catalkoy also has two supermarkets that stock a good range of familiar foods, so you can stock up your Alagadi villa fridge with everything from tasty olives to local wines, cool beers and fresh cheeses.

    From any Bahceli holiday apartment the pretty town of Kyrenia is just a 30mins minute drive away, with its famous Venetian harbour lined with excellent restaurants and its back streets filled with small, friendly local bars.

    If the kids want a bit of excitement, your holiday apartment is just a 20 mins minute drive away from the Acapulco Beach Resort. This resort beach has the lot; sun loungers with parasols, showers and changing rooms, a snack bar and even an aqua park, as well as water sports galore.

    However, if you prefer peace and quiet, then try nearby Lara beach, which has rock pools that kids can't resist exploring, and smooth limestone rocks, ideal for sunworshippers.

    Alagadi Turtle Beach is a super place to lie back and soak up the sunshine on the sands. When you arrive during the day from your Esentepe self-catering apartment, the beach is peaceful and very relaxed, but at night during the turtle breeding season, the sands come alive with hatchling turtles.

    If you want to see these amazing creatures during your holiday in North Cyprus, then you are in exactly the right place if you rent a seaview apartment in Esentepe. The information centre of SPoT, the Society for the Protection of Turtles in Northern Cyprus, known to the locals as the Goatshed, is right on Alagadi beach. The project's student volunteers protect the nests by caging them off from predators such as foxes, and supervise the hatchings.

    You can join a public viewing of baby turtle releases most evenings during the season from 5.30pm, but you must book in advance. These releases are of baby turtles who probably hatched the night before and didn't make it to the sea, or who hatched during the heat of the day. Volunteers collect the vulnerable baby turtles from Alagadi and other beaches, and release them under supervision, giving them a much better chance of survival.

    For a more 'natural' experience, you can join a night watch to see both the young hatching from the sands, and female turtles coming ashore to dig nests and lay their eggs. On a night watch, some hardy souls sleep on the beach, but you won't need to if your holiday is in Esentepe. We have a full time key holder (Babara & Octave owners Coconut Bar) who are more then happy to stock the fridge before you arrive, and give any local tips!
    There are numerous bar and restaurants within a 5-10 minute drive from the apartment. The list below is not the only ones and I continue to build the list, but it certainly gives you a good idea on what about.
    Bar/Restaurants
    Coconut Bar – A really cool Caribbean style food and bar/restaurant. Great food, great cocktails! Small so best to book in advance! Lovely outlook over a pool and distant sea views.
    Direction: By foot. Come out of apartment, walk down the road and turn left. You will a (small) sign post for Coconuts and Crystal Bay Park.
    Emily’s Bar – A nice local bar that serves really nice traditional Cypriot food. Cracking sea and sunset views!
    Direction: By foot (10 minutes) or car. Come out of apartment, walk down the road and turn right towards the sea. On old costal road, turn left and follow it around until you get to Emilys.
    Stevies Bar – Traditional and good honest English food with a cracking sea and sunset view. Very popular and Steve (who runs it) has been around for years. Sometimes has entertainment so Book to avoid disappointment.
    Directions: By car drive to main road, turn left and drive along until you see a sign on road pointing to Stevies Bar on left. Turn left, then left again. Roots bar is just along from this….
    Roots Bar – Really cool bar with great ambience and a cracking sea/sunset view.
    Directions: By car drive to main road, turn left and drive along until you see a sign on road pointing to Roots Bar on left. Turn left, then left again. Stevies is just along from this….
    Sea Breeze – A very traditional restaurant ran by Cypriots serving very good local food. Again, cracking sea/sunset view.
    Directions: Same as Roots and Stevies. They all are ‘next’ to each other.
    PLEASE NOTE, to get to Sea Breeze, Roots and Stevies, you can drive along the old costal road. Simply go to old costal road, turn RIGHT and drive along the old (beautiful) road. You will get to all 3 resturants.
    Joya Restaurant – Really good European food (and Curry!) set insuide Crystal Bay Marina development.
    Directions: By car drive to main road, turn left and drive along until you see a sign on road on right hadn side pointing towards JOYA. Drive into development…
    Joshans – I heard it’s a great Curry but personally haven’t been – please let me know!
    Directions: By car drive to main road, turn left and drive along until you see a sign on road pointing to Joshans on Left….
    Korinium Golf Course Restaurant – A really smart restaurant inside the famous Korinium Golf Course. Very good food!

    Waterfalls – a really nice restaurant with great ambiance and next to golf course (not overlooking mind you). It does have a waterfall though! Very nice food and waiters…..

    Black Horse – I personally haven’t been but inside Palm Bay View (development next to Crystal Bay) so not too sure.
    By car drive to main road, turn left and its on your left.
    Supermarkets
    Tempo – all your supermarket needs right here! (see below for directions for petrol, pharmacy and another supermarket).
    The Kyrenia District

    North Cyprus is around 40 miles from the Turkish mainland and outside the eurozone offering fantastic value. It is a hidden gem brimming with Crusader castles, wildflowers, unspoiled beaches and laid-back charm - with an average of 340 days of sunshine a year. Spring flowers including rare wild orchids and cyclament are out in abundance in March/April/May in the quieter Turkish side of Cyprus, that's slightly time-warped, but in a good way, without the over-development of many other Mediterranean destinations.

    Directions

    Once you have picked up your suitcases from the carousel and cleared Customs, then collect your hire car from the desks in the hall. Check you have a map of both south Cyprus and North Cyprus, and remember that road signs will be in English and Greek in south Cyprus, and English and Turkish in North Cyprus. Now you are ready to enjoy a picturesque drive from Larnaca airport to Girne, passing through the border near Nicosia.

    Driving in Cyprus
    It’s worth remembering that place names do vary in Cyrpus. For example, the capital Nicosia is also referred to as Lefkosia or Lefkosa, whilst Kyrenia can also be signposted as Keryneia and Girne.

    The Best Route from Larnaca Airport to Kyrenia
    Maps don’t always show you the easiest route to drive, so here is the Cyprus44 guide to the easiest route from Larnaca airport to Kyrenia. This route avoids the busy border crossing in the heart of Nicosia. Cyprus44 also suggest you reset your mileage counter at the airport, so you can follow our directions more easily!

    From the main exit at Larnaca airport, you come to a roundabout
    Turn LEFT at the roundabout towards Lefkosia (59km)
    At the next roundabout, continue straight ahead to Lefkosia
    At the large roundabout with an overpass, take the RIGHT exit towards Lefkosia (56km). You are now on the main A3 dual carriageway.
    Approximately 12 km from the airport, take the LEFT fork signposted for Larnaka and Lefkosia A2
    At the next roundabout, take the LEFT filter lane towards Lefkosia
    Continue along the dual carriageway A2 towards Lefkosia. After a few kilometres, the A2 merges with the A1. Stay on this road.
    Approximately 44km from the airport, there is a football stadium on your left. You will begin to see signs for Troodos, Strovolos and Keryneia.
    Take Junction 3 for the B22/A9.
    At the roundabout, decorated with large coloured spheres, use the LEFT filter lane signposted Keryneia (38km).
    Carry on at the traffic lights by the shopping centre following signs for Lakatameia and Troodos
    Carry on through another set of traffic lights, and at the roundabout continue straight ahead for Lakatameia and Troodos
    At the roundabout with a Metro store, continue straight ahead for Keryneia and Troodos
    At the next roundabout, continue straight on for Makedonitissa and Keryneia
    At the T junction at the top of a hill with a church on the right, turn RIGHT towards Kioneli and Keryneia
    At the next roundabout, go straight ahead.
    Just after the Coca Cola factory, turn LEFT at the traffic lights marked Kioneli and Keryneia
    The border is ahead of you, so take the slip road off to the left and park by the portacabins.
    You will need to buy your North Cyprus insurance and get your papers stamped.(See below).
    From the border, continue to the first roundabout and continue on straight ahead.
    At the second roundabout, turn LEFT towards Girne, Kyrenia, Gonyali, Guzelyurt.
    Follow the dual carriageway to the next roundabout.
    Turn RIGHT at the roundabout.
    At the next roundabout with the large Memorial statues, turn LEFT towards Kyrenia/Girne.
    Follow the road through the mountains to Kyrenia, and a perfect North Cyprus holiday!

    Checkpoints at the South-North Cyprus border
    Checkpoints are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You will need to buy extra insurance for your hire car, costing around GBP20 for a period up to one month. You must also have your driving licence with you, or you will not be allowed into North Cyprus! Present your passport and visa application (the white slips provided) and car insurance papers, and get your papers stamped.
