    'Noddfa' is a Welsh word meaning 'sanctuary' or 'refuge' and that's exactly what this apartment has been designed to be. Situated on the first floor it enjoys far-reaching views across the Mawddach Estuary and the Cadair range of mountains. The entrance lobby leads into a spacious living and dining area, complete with fully fitted kitchen. Beyond this area is a generous master bedroom suite featuring a bedroom with kingsize bed and memory foam mattress, a dressing room and generous ensuite shower room. Off the lobby the second bedroom features twin beds with memory foam mattresses and another generous ensuite shower room. Noddfa is pet friendly and affords comfortable, spacious accommodation for up to 4 adults or children.

    Location description

    Bryn Melyn Apartments is situated in the coastal town of Barmouth in the south of the Snowdonia National Park. Although isolated it is easily accessed by car from the midlands via the M54 and Shrewsbury or from the north West via Llangollen and Bala. Barmouth also lies on the Cambrian Coast railway with direct services every two hours from Birmingham International and New Street via Shrewsbury. It is an ideal location to explore the national park and north Wales and the area is truly excellent for walkers seeing quiet, spectacular hiking away from the crowds. The stunning beach also attracts families and the Mawddach Estuary is a magnet for paddle-boarders.

    Other activities

    Snowdonia is full of history and heritage with many castles to visit. Heritage of a different kind is evident in the many narrow gauge steam railways that originally conveyed slate and now carry tourists. The area is also gaining a reputation as the Adventure Capital of the UK with zip-wires, mountain biking, white water rafting and underground adventures amongst others offering exciting activities for all ages.

    Local events

    One of the UK's largest walking festivals takes place over 10 days each September in Barmouth (Barmouth Walking Festival). An annual Paddle Sports festival also attracts many people as does the Beach Racing (motocross) each autumn.

    Directions

    If travelling from the east take the A496 from Dolgellau to Barmouth.
    Entering Barmouth the road narrows as you pass the gothic Clock House and twists around the side of the old harbour. It then climbs up a short hill and turns to the right before dropping down again. As the road turns to the left there is a small road on the right just past Lawrenny Lodge B&B. This is Panorama Road.

    Turn into Panorama road and follow it steeply uphill, following the road as it turns sharply to the right and passes around the Bae Abermaw Hotel. Beyond the hotel, still climbing, ignore the road on the right into the Swn y Dail estate. The road is narrow at this point so be cautious of vehicles coming in the opposite direction. Bryn Melyn can be found shortly afterwards on the left. A large sign marks the entrance to our car park, however you may prefer to drive further up the hill and turn round as this makes entering the car park far easier.

    If you are travelling from the north west of Wales you may come down the A496 coast road through Harlech. In this case stay on the A496 and drive straight through Barmouth following signs for Dolgellau. Just beyond the main shopping street you will pass the Last Inn on the left hand side, (the harbour is on your right beyond the railway line). Continue for a further 300m around a large ‘S’ bend until the spectacular railway bridge is on your right. Panorama Road is the first road on the left. From here follow the instructions above to Bryn Melyn.

    A library of books and magazines, together with walking guides, maps, board games and jigsaws is located in the communal entrance hall and shared between all 3 apartments.

    Kitchens are fully fitted and come with all crockery, cutlery, etc as well as olive oil.

    The 3 apartments share a spacious communal deck to the front of the building featuring multiple areas to sit and relax, a gas-fired barbecue and a 5-person hot tub which is available at any time.
    Access: Car not essential, Private car park, Stairs
    Whilst a car is not essential guests without access to a car will find their choice of activities more limited. Bryn Melyn is situated around 300ft above sea level up a steep and narrow road. The walk into Barmouth is less than 10 minutes, (longer back!) but taxis are available and have very modest charges.

    All bedding and towels are provided. Apartments are cleaned prior to arrival and will be serviced once during stays of 14 days.
