For more than two decades, the La Roque d'Anthéron Piano Festival has been the place for pianists with the courage to express their originality and their personality. The wise, the insolent and the prodigious - poets all - are reborn each year under the ancient plane trees of the Parc de Florans and the starry vault of the Provençal evenings. The magic of evening recitals in the park is thus perpetuated and renewed every year. Lined with 365 plane trees, the main concourse opens on to a space both grand and intimate where, as night falls and an atmosphere of enchantment descends upon the park, the music takes on a magical quality.
Over the years, the venues and the concerts have diversified, welcoming larger and larger audiences eager to share their love of the piano in this ambience steeped in music and warmth. The Festival did not have to wait for its present-day maturity to proclaim its identity as the "Mecca of the piano", and it reinforces this identity each year by inaugurating new venues and gathering together a range of young talents from the four corners of the world alongside those whose fame places them at the top of their profession. The Festival carries the standard of these intermingled generations, ensuring that each of the diverse groupings is ensconced in an appropriate space. With its ninety concerts, classical and jazz, La Roque d'Anthéron is becoming the only place to experience the true essence of the piano at the dawn of the 3rd millennium.
