The Battle of Fornarina, San Ginesio, Macerata, Italy
Last weekend July
The re-enactment of a historic event - some 250 residents dress in medieval costume and re-enact this battle, where the town of San Ginesio was saved from the marauding inhabitants of Fermo, by Fornarina (the baker's girl), who sounded the church bell to wake the soldiers.
