Location description

Tenuta Tegolaia offers an excellent location: situated in the “Val di Cecina”, extended along the river Cecina in the southern part of the surroundings of Pisa and not far away from the most important towns of Livorno, Cecina, San Gimignano, Lucca, Siena and Florence. Tegolaia is the best location where you will be able to enjoy the marvellous Tuscan hills, with all their unforgettable colors and the suggestive famous Balze of Volterra, who are just around the town.
Just at a few kms you will find Volterra, famous for the extraction and processing of the alabaster, is an historical town of Etruscan origin (the “Porta dell’Arco” of etruscan period, is magnificently preserved and the “Porta Diana” still preserves the blocks of the frames) with Roman ruins and Medieval buildings such as the Cathedral and the Palazzo dei Priori on the main “piazza”. The name is obviously of Etruscan origin and later adapted to the Latin « volaterrae ». Worth visiting: Duomo square and Palazzo dei Priori, Palazzo Minucci-Solaini; Archeological area of Vallebona (roman baths and anphitheatre), Etruscan highlights: Guarnacci Museum and Porta all’arco.
