Directly managed by the owners with great care the villa is positioned on a panoramic hillside facing the sea, just 600 meters from Villammare long sandy beach, and commands a spectacular Mediterranean vista - views stretching down to the farthest mountains of the Calabria region (the mountain range that soars above Diamante and Paola) on one side and as far as the Punta (Cape) of the Infreschi and the wild coastal tract bearing the same name between Scario and Marina di Camerota on the other side. Two thirds of the estate is covered with lush woodland thick with cork oak, a plant typical of the environmental niche stretching along the coastline of the Bay of Policastro between S. Marina and Sapri. Surrounded by a big enclosed garden, it is the perfect accommodation for friends reunions and families with children.
This three-storey villa is built in a traditional architectural style and is set 124 feet above sea level with stunning views stretching for miles along the Cilento coast. It is extremely spacious and well equipped with numerous terraces on which to relax with a glass of wine and soak in the views before dining together on the wonderful covered taverna area with its pizza oven and barbecue. A little piece of paradise for families and friends wishing to escape their busy city lives and experiencing the authentic Italian dolce vita and a truly memorable villa holiday at the beach.
The "marina" of Villammare is less than 1 mile therefore you could go walking but car is recommended because the last part of the road to the villa is steep (that's the reason why the villa has such a nice views!). The village is lively at summer and there are bars, chalets, and shops. It is not a place spoiled by massive tourism and you will find a friendly athmosphere all around and an autentic glimpse of Italy. Restaurants in the surrounding as well as "trattorie" and "pizzerie" serve very good food.
As an exclusive service for guests staying at Villa Le Cannicelle, the local AVIS office can arrange one-way or return transfers from the airport to the villa. They can also deliver your rental car directly to the garden of the villa on your day of arrival. Please don't hesitate to ask for contact details of the local manager.
Private skippered boat can be arranged on request for trips to Sapri, Palinuro, Porto Infreschi, Acquafredda, Scario or Maratea beaches where you can watch the sun set or visit some of the many natural sea caves with their mesmerizing, colorful reflections. This floor is not air conditioned because it is naturally cooler than the other floors due to the big oak tree at the south front of the villa and because of the big porch made of stone.

***ESCAPE TO THE REAL ITALY:
This was an incredible place to vacation for my family. If you want to escape to the real Italy, away from the tourists but experience the best of the Italian coast - this is a gem! The pictures do no justice to this place. The villa is full of all the luxuries we needed. The bedrooms were all very large with good design and great amenities. The bathrooms were well stocked and extremely clean - as was the whole houses immaculate. The kitchen was great and a fun place to prepare food. The outdoor kitchen was also a real treasure at night for long dinners with our large group. There are many eating areas and balconies with well appointed seating for morning coffees, afternoon reading and evening cocktails. Lots of space to get some quiet time. Our family enjoyed so much time at the pool. It’s huge and has great steps leading into if you have little ones. There was a box full of pool toys too which was brilliant for our group. There was also a great slide and swing set in the garden - it is an endless activity center for a family. The villa is surrounded with lots of delicious fruit trees and everyday we picked lemons, plums, peaches as we played in the garden. It was magic. Perhaps the best part of the trip was our host Marzio and his team. He was incredible helping us plan activities before and during our stay (definitely recommend the boat trip and booking dinner at his local favorites). He shared with us his family wine - which tasted even better with the stories he shared about his family. Maria the housekeeper keeps the home immaculate and always there to help with anything we needed. They really made us feel welcome and shared the best of Italian hospitality. We will be back to stay again - it was heaven.
***AN AMAZING WEEK IN AN INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL VILLA WITH STUNNING VIEWS!:
We spent a week at Le Cannicelle in August 2018 for a family reunion and holiday. We were 5 adults and 5 children (aged 6 to 15). We had an amazing week at Le Cannicelle - one that we will remember forever!
The Villa is a gorgeous 3 floor structure and we rented the entire villa. On the first floor (or ground) are 3 bedrooms (one facing the sea, and the other two facing inwards), a large living and dining space, 2 full bathrooms and a nice spacious kitchen. There are two doors that open up to a covered patio that looks over some lovely flowers and out down over the sea. There is also an outdoor dining area and then at a lower level a complete outdoor kitchen. The 2nd floor has a contained 1 bedroom unit with its own living room (with a sofa bed), kitchen, dining area and a bathroom - and the 3rd floor is also another independent bedroom unit (smaller than 2nd floor) but also with a small outdoor patio.
The villa is luxurious and comes with a housekeeper who shows up every day from 9am to 1pm (except Thursdays). This is a huge help as it kept the villa clean and many chores done allowing us to spend more time with our families. From my earliest interactions with Marzio (the owner) I felt just incredibly comfortable in speaking to him. He is a genuinely caring person who goes out of his ways to ensure that his guests have an amazing time and he is always accessible (we had him on whatsapp). He went above and beyond to make the house comfortable and accessible for each of our family members.
The villa has the most stunning views from all floors looking out towards the hills further south and out into the beautiful sea. The pool is incredibly well kept and we spent at least 3 days lounging by the pool. There is plenty to do (boat excursions, beaches, driving to nearby villages or further out to Pompeii or Naples) or not do and just chill at Villamare. It is a little out of the way - but we loved that as it allowed us to experience a part of Italy that most foreign tourists never get to. The people of Villamare and surrounding villages are incredibly friendly even though they may not speak much English. The food and wine is amazing. -Marzio connected us to a chef who came and cooked many delicious 3 course meals for us.
Upon our return I asked one of our 9 year old twins what was his favorite part of his stay at the villa, and he responded "Everything!". Yes, we all agree. Thanks Marzio for an unforgettable family reunion.
***A PERFECT CHOICE FOR US.
This was a perfect choice for us. Several friends from Rome and I shared the entire house for 2 weeks and we couldn't have been happier. The house is lovely, spacious, and beautifully decorated. The photos don't do the decor of the first floor justice. It's even more elegant than the pictures. And the kitchen is a dream. The location is breathtaking, the garden stunning, the pool is perfect, etc. The Owners care and love for the property is in evidence everywhere. And the housekeeper, Anna, is an absolute marvel. We loved being able to invite our friends to stay in the apartments upstairs. It's really the perfect situation for guests; we got to eat together and spend the day together but whenever we or our guests wanted it, there was always privacy to be found. We also fell in love the the Basso Cilento. Villammare is tiny but has two wonderful restaurants. We rented a boat a couple of times to explore Punta degli Infreschi and Cala Bianca and both days were unforgettable. We love the house and can't wait to go back.
***THE VILLA IS VERY WELL PRESENTED:
The villa is very well presented. The service level of the staff is excellent. Villa is in a good position in Villammare - close to beach, shops and restaurants/cafes although the car is recommended. Private pool very clean. Good design and layout. We would stay again and would recommend to others.
***THE VILLA PROVIDED AN EXCELLENT SETTING:
The villa provided an excellent setting for a relaxed family vacation. The property was very well maintained and had a beautiful quiet location, yet within walking distance from the beach, shops and restaurants.
***BOTH OUR HOLIDAYS WERE UNFORGETABLE:
This is the second time we spend our holiday at the Villa Once during the summer period in 2014 and now during autumn with a group of 9 people and we used all floors. Both our holidays were unforgetable. We were warmly welcomed by the owner, which made us feel at home immediately and during our stay he helped us with any question we had. The house is fully equipped and lives up to every expectation you might have. The beds are good, the kitchen has everything you need for a big family and washing machine is available. The kids loved the pool. There are terraces all around the house to enjoy the sun all day whilst the views are spectacular! We enjoyed the outside kitchen with bbq and pizza oven, stayed outside late on the covered terrace even in our autumn holiday. The house and grounds are very well looked after with a lot of love and eye for detail. The housekeeper will come in every day, a great luxury and a lovely person. There is lot to do around Villamare, the beach, a boattrip but also cultural visits like Peastum. Both times we returned home feeling a little sad to leave this wonderful place, but promissing to come back...

Deposit/Booking Notes
Booking Conditions:
On confirmation of booking a no refundable deposit of 30% of the rental price is payable by bank transfer. The balance has to be paid in full within 60 days before the arrival date or will result in loss of booking and deposit already made. For stays booked with less than 60 days before the arrival date, full payment will be requested. Once the first payment has been made this implies for the Guest the tacit acceptance of and the obligation to respect the terms and the general letting conditions shown in this document. Once payment is received in full, “Le Cannicelle Snc” will send by email all the information needed to reach the accommodation and contact details for the person responsible for Check-in.
Cancellation Policy:
In case of Guest wishes to cancel a booking already made the following cancellation policy applies and he will be refunded by "Le Cannicelle Snc" as following:
- 70% of the total amount if the cancellation is made within 60 days before the arrival date;
- 50% of the total amount if the cancellation is made 59 to 40 days before the arrival date;
- 25% of the total amount if the cancellation is made 39 to 30 days before the arrival date;
In case of Guest wishes to cancel the booking less than 29 days before the arrival date it is not expected that any refund will be given.
