Description of holiday villa near Sulmona, Abruzzo
David & Joanna Mundy welcome you to Casa Rosa, a beautiful two-bedroomed detached villa nestled in the middle of Bugnara.
This unique property offers you the best of both worlds; a detached villa with its own roof terrace, patio, terraces and cottage garden, yet in the middle of a medieval village in the heart of Abruzzo, Italy - in fact its garden walls are part of the original village walls. It is just a five minutes drive to Sulmona. Casa Rosa is also well placed to visit three National Parks, the Majella National Park, the Abruzzo National Park and the Sirente Velino Park.
The detached villa, (which is all yours, not an apartment) has been recently renovated to a high standard and has a newly fitted kitchen, shower room, two separate bedrooms (each with a balcony), a large open plan kitchen/dining room/lounge complete with Italian channel TV and DVD player. It also has mains gas central heating and an open fireplace.
With one double and one twin bedroom, the villa is ideal for families, friends or couples, with plenty in the surrounding area to see and do during your stay.
There is a fantastic large 'sun trap' roof terrace from where you can relax with a glass (or two) of wine and admire the views of the surrounding village, woodland and mountains.
Being totally detached, Casa Rosa has its own private garden. There is a secluded shady courtyard complete with table and chairs directly off the kitchen, from here 4 steps take you to the cottage garden, which is south facing and is gravelled with Maiella stone, complete with a table, two benches and umbrella, so you have a choice of sun or shade. You can of course relax on the front terrace of Casa Rosa with your coffee - with so much outside space you will be spoilt for choice!
Free parking is available close by and it is only a twenty metre level walk from the house.
Just five minute drive to the small historic city of Sulmona, Casa Rosa is very well placed for visiting three National Parks - the Majella National Park, the Abruzzo National Park and the Sirente Velino Park. It is the perfect location for walking and trekking holidays (there are numerous walks from the village), cycling, horse riding, sightseeing or just for a relaxing break away. The wonderful beaches of the Adriatic are only 40 minutes drive away and the cool lakes of Scanno are only 20 minutes away. There is even a Water Park at Corfinio which is only 10 minutes down the road and Sulmona has indoor and outdoor swimming pools with loungers for sunbathing. For winter breaks there are numerous ski resorts, the largest being only just 40 minutes away at Roccaraso. And of course Rome is only 90 minutes drive away.
Casa Rosa is close to the centre of the village which has recently entered the Club of 'The most beautiful villages of Italy'. In the village you will find three bars, one of which makes excellent food, a fishing pool with a fish restaurant, a hotel with restaurant, two grocery shops, Post Office, chemist, hairdresser along with four churches. The nearest supermarket is just five minutes drive away this side of Sulmona.
