Description of holiday villa in Sisi, Crete and surrounds

Villa Athena has been built to the highest standards with no expenses spared. Located 0.5 KM from the lovely village of Sisi and 3 KM from the large resort of Malia.

The villa accommodation is situated on three floors; on the lower ground floor you will find three bedrooms, two rooms with double beds and one room with two single beds. One large bathroom with bath and shower. The ground floor consist of an open plan kitchen/dining/living room leading onto two outside terraces where you will find a dining table and lounge set. The upper floor contains two large double bedrooms with a en-suite bathroom and a large private terrace. Outside you will find a wonderful garden with a large swimming pool (60m2), a trendy pool bar with professional fridge and lounge set with plenty of shade and sun lounges. The villa is 270m2 and also contains a large garage (20m2). The villa is equipped with a smarthouse security system.

Location description

The picturesque Sissi by-the-sea, 45 kilometers east of Heraklion in eastern Crete, is a pleasant surprise, well hidden at the end of a narrow, winding road after turning off from the main, national highway.
Arriving at Sissi, you immediately realise that everything here is much different than neighbouring Malia or nearby Hersonissos. What's missing are the thousands of tourists and multitude of bars and clubs that result in a more hectic atmosphere. In Sissi, life flows at a much more easy and calm pace.

Sissi's main road reveals none of its particular beauty and character. It's a sort of haphazard affair, with a collection of small hotels and rent-rooms, a sprinkling of tourist shops and fast-food snack bars scattered about and many cars disorderly parked this way and that. But don't get discouraged. The real Sissi, its inner soul, becomes apparent when you reach the end of that road and come face-to-face with the lovely little port in the rich, blue sea. You immediately want to stop and fill yourself with this idyllic vision, and well you should. However, parking at this point is limited, and you may have to continue to the right for several metres to the clearing surrounded by many beach tavernas. You may leave your car there, then double back to Sissi's charming port.

Directions

Directions to Villa Athena:

To Sissi
When leaving the airport you drive in the direction of Aghios Nikolaos (Malia and/or Sisi are also indicated at some point) You either take the New National road or the Old National Road, both will get you into Sissi. (I recommend to take the new road)
When you take the New national road drive it all the way through, it will take you to Stalis.
Take a right here, (no signs are indicated) Drive through Malia and after aprox. 2 km you will come to a sign on the left saying Sissi (if you pass a BP station on the right, you’ve come to far, turn around and take the first on the right)
Turn left here and take after approx. 700 meter the road on the left saying camping Sissi.
Follow the road and after another 800-900 meter you will find the villa’s Zeus, Athena, Dyonisos and Hera on your left and right.

The same applies for the Old National Road only you will then pass through the villages of Kokkini Hani, Gournes, Gouves, Chersonissos and Stalis before coming to Malia.
The journey is aprox 40 min.
