Finca La Morera is a large, secluded, luxury Spanish villa providing self-catering rental accommodation, with the benefit of two private swimming pools, in the heart of rural Andalucia (Andalusia), Spain. The finca (farmhouse) has been converted to the highest standards by its English owners and is available to rent by the week for up to twelve people. Short breaks – or smaller numbers - can also be arranged during the low seasons. For those looking for a luxury Spanish villa in the Spanish countryside, the large well-appointed house lies in a picturesque valley in the foothills of the Sierras de Salinas. A short distance from Ronda, with easy access to the airports of Malaga, Seville or Jerez, (1 ½ hours) and the Mediterranean and Atlantic coasts (45 minutes and 1 ¼ hours respectively), it is a perfect base from which to explore the delights of southern Spain.

This luxury Spanish villa, with views across the Arriate valley towards the ancient Moorish city of Ronda, is found towards the end of a single track lane. It is surrounded by vines, olive and fig trees, swaying palms and the Mulberry tree from which it takes its name. The accommodation is spacious enough for a house party or family group to self-cater in style, although catering can usually be arranged if required. It has a bespoke kitchen, barbecue area, six en-suite bedrooms, home cinema, and two swimming pools (one infinity; the other a spring-fed, restored ‘alberca’). The terraced gardens are planted with sweet- scented lavender, rosemary and thyme. Seasonal, organic fruit and vegetables from the garden are available for guests to enjoy.

The interior of this rambling farmhouse sports generously proportioned rooms and is planned with comfort in mind. The imposing entrance hall/dining room is the focal point of the main house. It is open from the ground floor to the roof and is overlooked by both the drawing room and master bedroom galleries, with warmth generated in winter by open fires and under-floor heating. Adjoining this is the principal kitchen - fully equipped to satisfy the most discerning cooks.

All six double bedrooms have en-suite facilities - three of them also have baths in addition to showers. Savour the luxury of quality pocket-sprung English mattresses, soft Egyptian cotton sheets and towels, and Penhaligon's toileteries - usually the preserve of five star hotels. Each bedroom is furnished in an individual style and has its own private terrace or direct access to the gardens.

The games room in the lower building is equipped with a pool table, a large old wooden football table and a table tennis table. The room opens onto a wide covered terrace - with dining table - which overlooks the 13m x 7m infinity swimming pool and the terraced gardens below. There is a secondary kitchen here and an intimate home cinema with a wide choice of movies for all ages.

Finca La Morera is available all year round for a large family or group of friends to rent by the week. However, during quieter times of the year, it is possible to rent for smaller numbers and shorter periods. The flexible accommodation consists of the main farmhouse with two en-suite double bedrooms; double height dining hall; bespoke, fully equipped, kitchen and a drawing room with open fire and adjoining terrace. Ancillary accommodation in four separate buildings provides a further four en-suite bedrooms with terraces, kitchen, games room and a home-cinema.

The rent includes the following: a welcome hamper; housekeeping 6 hours per week; electricity; gas; hot water; linen (excluding cot linen), towels (including pool towels), hair dryers; DVD’s; snooker table, table tennis, football table, board games, books; satellite TV; Broadband access; BBQ; ice machine; iron; 3 dishwashers; 3 washing machines; 2 tumble dryers; 3 travel cots (bedding is not included) and 2 high chairs; seasonal organic garden produce. An infinity swimming pool and a solar heated "alberca" swimming pool; 5 acres of terraced gardens.

Extras. – Meals can be arranged if required; additional housekeeping; babysitting, all subject to prior notice. A small supplement is payable for air conditioning and additional winter heating/logs. Bodega (wine cellar) stocked with selection of local Spanish wines and sherries for guests to purchase.

Location description

You might be happy to put your feet up and just relax at La Morera. However, should you choose to be more adventurous, wait a few moments and we'll give you a flavour of some of the historic sights and stunning countryside of Andalucia...

From the 8th C until the late 15th C this area of Spain was under the control of the invading Moors. From their period of occupation they left behind an abundance of historical sites. The magnificence of the Alhambra in Granada is legendary. However, there are many fortified Moorish towns and villages in the area with outstanding relics, mosques and gardens displaying exquisite taste from a highly cultured and civilised people. The breathtaking city of Ronda, astride a spectacular gorge, is fifteen minutes away and is a classic example of a fortified Moorish city - the old defensive wall, the area’s baths, mosques converted to churches by the Christians, and many other sites of archaeological interest. With the oldest bullring in Spain, Ronda justly claims to be the home of bullfighting. The ancient and ruined original city of Ronda La Vieja is only 20 minutes away.
From the annual April Feria in Seville to the Festival de Jerez, dedicated to Flamenco, there are festivals throughout the year devoted to traditional Andalucian dance and music.
The lush Grazalema National Park, which has some of the most wonderful walking, cycling and horse –riding, is a 15 minutes drive Here too can be found some of the famous 'white villages’ (Los Pueblos Blancos) from Zahara to Grazalema itself. Many others, including Arcos, Setenil, Gaucin and Casares are all within an easy journey and well worth exploring.

Other activities

Wine tasting at one of the many local bodegas in the region can be arranged as well as guided walking tours.
