Description of holiday villa in Orgiva, Andalucia
Escape to a region rich in Spanish, Andalucian and Moorish traditions. La Mimosa is a spacious villa on a surfaced track only 5 minutes drive or 20 minutes walk from Orgiva amidst unmade country lanes and goat tracks established centuries ago yet has the added advantage of offering BROADBAND ACCESS for your own laptop and being within reach of all modern amenities.
The 9x4 metre private pool has pretty underwater lighting and is set in an exotic garden which is a riot of colour throughout the year. Fruit grown at La Mimosa include plum, mandarin, avocado, grapefruit, fig, lemon, limequat, nispara (loquat), cherimoya (custard apple), banana, olive and a variety of grapes.
There is a spacious vine covered dining area and a large BBQ for alfresco dining which has stunning views beyond the pool to the Lujar Mountain (.500 meters higher than Ben Nevis).
Orgiva is a bustling small market town with an abundance of tapas bars, a few restaurants, a pizzeria and wonderfully friendly people. There are many pavement cafes which give the town a cosmopolitan feeling. Orgiva is one of the few remaining areas of Spain where most bars still serve a free tapas with every drink.
Secluded coves and beaches of the Costa Tropical are just 45 minutes away
Less than one hour south of Granada with it's Alhambra Palace and two hours east of Malaga this rural area is vividly described in the best selling book "Driving Over Lemons" by Chris Stewart. The villa is easily accessible and offers a rare experience of real Spain.

Location description
Orgiva is a good centre from which to explore this interesting region on foot, by car or local bus. You can wander along footpaths that are centuries old and be constantly amazed at the breathtaking scenery and vibrant colours of oleander, wisteria and bougainvillea.Granada with its Alhambra Palace, gardens, Cathedral and Moorish Albaicin quarter are just one hours drive away. You can fill your own water bottles at the Spa town of Lanjeron which can be reached in fifteen minutes. A drive to the pueblo blanco white villages of Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira in the Poqueira Gorge of the Sierra Nevada National Park is an essential part of any visit.
The coastal resort of Almunecar with its seafront restaurants, shops, large weekly market and water park is a forty five minute drive. The caves of Nerja are one hour away along a beautiful coastal route. The beaches of the Costa Tropical and its spectacular cliffs are just forty minutes away. You can arrange horse riding, mountain biking and hill walking locally and the nearest golf course is a thirty minute journey. You may however prefer to relax by the pool surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery.

Flights from most airports in the UK to Malaga. Malaga Airport has cheap car hire and is 2 hours drive from La Mimosa.
Granada airport has recently opened to international flights and is just over a one hour drive. Again ,you will find cheap car hire in Granada. There are cheap flights with Ryanair from Liverpool-Granada and Stansted-Granada and Nottingham East Midland- Granada.
Almeria airport is 2 hours away.
Buses
There are direct buses to Granada and Malaga with local bus services to the surrounding villages.
