Location description
Mullins Bay, probably one of the nicest beaches on the island, is on the "Platinum" west coast between Holetown and Speightstown. It is about 50 minutes from the airport and is easy to find. Palm Tree Villa is just 500 metres up the road opposite the beach. We will send you exact details and a precise map when you book.
Speightstown is 1 mile north and was originally the capital of Barbados. It is now a historic small town, with shops banks and restauants and supermarket
Holetown is a larger town with a modern shopping mall and many attractive shops, restauants and banks. It has a large department store, police station, Health Centre and is altogether more modern than Speightstown. Holetown is about 4miles south of Mullins.
Local buses are very regular and inexpensive and will take you anywhere on the island. Taxis, of course, are also always available to book by telephone. However we recommend hiring a car if you really want to explore. Driving is on the left as the UK. Ask us for details if you wan't a recommendation.
The capital, Bridgetown is about 25 minutes drive south and is well worth a visit, as is the whole island, which is so different on each coast. North is rugged, East is Atlantic rollers, South is busy and touristy and West is quieter and beautiful. It is a beautiful and safe island to explore and the locals are friendly and happy.
We have a booklet in the villa showing you all the tourist attractions and also where to shop and eat etc etc. We have been visiting Barbados for 10 years now, and still have not seen everywhere!
Other activities
There is so much to do and so many places to visit. We suggest you hire a car to get around, Driving is on the same side of the road as the UK. The island is very safe wherever you travel and the local people are delightful, very friendly and helpful. We can recommend a car hire firm who are very good if you contact us.
Local events
Depends on the time of the year, but there are many festivals throughout the year, flower shows, horse racing events, open houses and gardens, historic houses and most of all, wonderful beaches.
Tourist attractions
Helicopter tours, take a dive in a Submarine, Catamaran Sailing, Swim with Turtles, Visit the caves or The Oval Cricket, Floor shows,Night Clubs, excellent restaurants etc.etc Barbados is a small, safe, beautiful island, just explore everywhere and enjoy! JDI!

Directions
BA and Virgin Atlantic make daily scheduled flights to Barbados. It's easy to book on-line,(Barbados airport code is BGI) or you can book your flight through a travel agent. Economy fares vary but are usually between £400 and £700 return, depending on time of year and availability. Young babies go free if they don't require a seat. Most flights are non-stop from London Gatwick or Manchester. Flight time is about 8 hrs. Outward journeys leave mid morning and return flights are overnight, which is really good because you can sleep and arrive home refreshed. Complimentry Airport transfers included in price.
