Description of holiday villa in Lignan-sur-Orb, Languedoc-Roussillon

In a quiet cul de sac location the villa offers significant living space (130 square metres) with an ideal location. The villa has a south facing tiled swimming pool, terracing to front and side with awning and conservatory. There are tree shaded areas for outside as well as inside dining area in the large lounge dining room with fireplace. A mezzanine level study area over the TV area, a kitchen breakfast room which opens onto the conservatory. Off the rear hall are four double bedrooms each with wardrobes, one with en suite shower room. A separate family bathroom is off the hallway which has a bath and separate shower and double washhandbasins, separate WC. There is also a cellar room for storage, garage for two cars, secure parking behind electric gates for several others and a store room with table tennis table. There is a satellite TV with English channels, terrestial TV with French channels, DVD player, music centre and radio.

The house is located within a short walk of the Chateau restaurant and village centre with all its basic shops, including, bakery, post office, butchers, newspaper shop and chemists as well as having a large Intermarche supermarket in the village just 2 minutes drive away.

The villa makes an ideal place for relaxing with sun loungers by the pool and outside garden furniture for eating and sunbathing, barbecue and an outside shower area. Or as an ideal place to base yourselves whilst exploring the region, using the villa as a family base to visit Beziers, Montpellier, Carcassone, Nimes or even Barcelona and the Pyrennees mountains on the way or of course for the long sandy Mediterranean beaches just 18 kilometres away.

Balance and refundable security bond payable 4 weeks prior to arrival. Mid June to end August Saturday only changeover days with midweek to midweek possible the rest of the year. Location description

Le Cote Vert is in a cul de sac location in a quiet residential area, backing on to fields. It is on the outskirts of the village, offering spacious and well furnished accommodation to a high standard. The village has all local shops within walking distance, including bakers, butchers, grocers, papershop and of course the chateau restaurant and a local bar that serves meals lunch and evenings. There is a supermarket at the far end of the village for full food shop with another restaurant and further local shops. Beziers is just a few minutes drive with a wide range of shopping facilities.

The Chateau is a short walk from the house and has a park for residents that is on the banks of the River Orb, where the restaurant has a terrace overlooking the grounds ideal for summer dining out, often accompanied by live music. The village has a number of fetes and there are a number of winemakers locally.

Other activities

There are local markets most days of the week in local towns, a list will be sent on reservation along with local restaurants. There is also canoeing on the Orb river, the amusement park at Vias Plage and of course the long sandy Mediterranean beaches to enjoy.

Local events

Beziers feria is a 5 day street party in August, with many villages having local fetes. Pezenas has its Moliere festival throughout the summer months with theatre and street acts. There is the Occitan festival in June in Beziers, the mimosa fete in February is the first fete of the year, held in Roquebrun and the chestnut festival at the end of October beginning of November the last before all the Xmas fetes start!

Tourist attractions

The Canal du Midi, in Beziers, the Cathar sites of Beziers and the castles nearby, the city of Carcassone, famous for its walls, the Roman amphitheatre in Nimes, the oyster lagoons with flamingoes along the coast and of course the Pont du Gard, not far from Nimes. Pezenas with its cobbled streets is just a 20 minute drive too, and full of history.

Fly to Beziers using Ryanair from the UK (London Luton, Manchester and Bristol) or Flybe(Southampton) or Oslo, Dusseldorf or Paris. Flights from the UK and Europe also to Montpellier, Perpignan and Carcassone, all approx and hours drive time from the villa. Take the A9 or A75 autoroutes that meet at Beziers, then the northern by pass around Beziers, leaving this at the exit for Lignan. There are also TGV trains to Beziers from Paris, Lyon and Toulouse. Bus services from Lignan to Beziers Monday to Saturday.
