Location description
Villa Mimosa is a beautiful, completely detached six-persons villa with swimmingpool, perched above the sea with a magnificent view over the deep blue Mediterranean Sea and the Greek island of Meyisti.Kas, discovered by the hippies during the seventies, is a small picturesque fisher village with a typical Turkish, mellowed atmosphere. It is situated on the unspoiled Turkish south coast and watched over by the impressive Taurus mountain range.
Its picturesque Ottoman architecture, antique monuments and white facades offers a perfect background to the wealthy displays for tourists in the narrow streets. You will find antique shops, boutiques and jewellers, textile, glass and earthenware, besides attractive terraces and a tea garden. An evening in Kas is an experience with its high-quality (fish) restaurants, bars and gorgeous terraces.
The former fisher village has an intimate harbour, in which boats for excursions and diving compete for a place with the perpetually growing number of sailing yachts.
Other activities
ExcursionsThere are a lot of travel agencies in Kas, where you can book for excursions or activities such as a diving course. At the harbour you can list yourselves for several tours by boat. All these activities are really very pleasant and you will find it easy to plan it yourselves.
Therefore we will just mention the following:
Beaches
At the seaside, just below Villa Mimosa, are some stony beaches with sun beds. Here you are able to sun bath or to enter the sea by means of a stair. The beach which is the most eastwards (towards Kas) has magnificent colors, a beautiful turquoise.
If you are just going for a swim, everything is free, but if you use one of the sun beds it is normal to order a consumption. The restaurants /bars on the beaches are open from the second half of May until the first half of October.
For little children it is nice to enjoy themselves in one of the kids pools of Hotel Aquarius. You will find one at the hotel which is 65 cm deep, the other one, filled with seawater , is on their beach.
In the area of Kas are several pebble beaches, for example at the isthmus of the peninsula. The beach at the mainland side is very pretty, with fine, small pebbles between big rocks.
You will also find a beautiful pebble beach at Buyuk Cakil. You can reach this by dolmus from the harbor. (On the sign: “Buyukcakil”).
By car you will pass the harbor, (at your right side), the road will climb and you still will go straight on. After about 1 kilometer you will see the beach below you with several little restaurants.
In the direction of Kalkan, on a distance of about 19 kilometer, is a magnificent little beach with the name: Kaputas Beach. You will reach the beach by a long stair. When you are there, you may visit an impressive gorge via a tunnel under the road. A few car minutes further in the direction of Kas you will find some enjoyable restaurants.
Kalkan is also a worthwhile destination, with its buildings in the form of a theatre around the small harbor. You will find here nice shops and a lot of restaurants.
Beyond Kalkan , in Patara, there is a beautiful, very long, sandy beach. (6 km. long! )
Restaurants
Kas has a lot of good and entertaining restaurants at diverse price levels.
Of course the best idea is to find your own “ideal place”!
Swimming with dolphins
In Kas you will be able to swim with dolphins. They are in a “pool” at the isthmus of the peninsula at the mainland side. You walk along the restaurant over a wooden bridge and you will reach the “dolphin hotel”.
There are two, somewhat older, animals. When they where young they were used for shows. Now you are able to swim with them if you pay about 110 YTL for 8 a 9 minutes. These dolphins are also used for therapy with autistic children. This dolphinarium is open from the start of May.
The market
It is a very picturesque excursion to visit the market of Kas, which is each Friday. It is a market of Turkish people in behalf of Turkish people and there are a lot of the most delicious fresh fruit and vegetables on offer. Furthermore there are a lot of textile and household articles for sale.
Kekova
If you like to visit Kekova, one of our first guests has the following hint:
“We have made a tour from Demre and recommend this to all next visitors. From here it is cheaper by private boat as from Kas by tour boat. We had a very pleasant captain, he speaks English and the price of a four hours travel was € 70,-
Gömbe
A not so obvious trip is into the mountains, to Gömbe (some 60 kilometers). We did it this spring and were really moved by it. It looks like Austria, but without tourists, chalets and hotels. Peace and quite, little houses with smoking chimneys and little Turkish villages, where time stood still. You will reach it to drive out from Kas in the direction of Antalya and turn left at the first big crossing, in the direction of Elmali. After about 40 km. you are in the mountains. There are nice restaurants for lunching or just for something to drink. During winter there are lots of snow, in summertime it is nice and cool.
Local events
Kas has remains of the Lycian culture as well as the Greek / Roman culture. In the centre is a Lycian tomb, a monument of which the text still is a mystery. On the peninsula close to the sea you can find a Hellenistic theatre, on which performances will be given during summertime.Kas is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Turkey Situated on the south coast with its clear blue water and a great deal of antique monuments, it provides a good start for sightseeing trips and sport activities.
Tourist attractions
There are boat tours to Kekova and to the Greek Island of Meis. There are also daily tours by coach to historical places like the major Lycian cities Arycanda, Patara, Tlos, Letoon and Xantos.
Excursions: You can rent a car and visit in one day the ruins of antique Myra (Lycian tombs), the Saint Nicolas basilica of Demre, the impressive cascades between Kas and Kalkan and the gorgeous Gorge of Saklikent
If you like a sportive holiday, you can have a non- stop programme because Kas offers you among others:
diving, sailing, joining a crew on a Blue Cruise or visiting sunken cities.
You can also go for paragliding, mountain biking or hike along the more than two thousand years old Lycian Pathway.

If you travel by car from the airport, you may take the following route:
from Dalaman:
Follow the direction of Fethiye, then Antalya, then Kas. When you have passed Kalkan you will see, just before you enter Kas, a small white lighthouse at you right. Then, after appr. 2 kilometers, there is a traffic light (mostly not working). Here you turn to the right. ( There is a sign: Cukurbag Yarim Adasi =peninsula). Now you are on the peninsula.
from Antalya:
There are two possibilities, the shortest one is to take the route along the sea side via Kemer.
Follow the signs Antalya, after this: Kemer and Finike.
When you are close to Kas, the road descends winding and you have a magnificent view on Kas and the peninsula. You enter Kas and follow the sign: Fethiye. Then you'll immediately leave Kas again and approach a traffic light (mostly not working) . Here you turn to the left . There is a sign: Cukurbag Yarim Adasi =peninsula). Now you are on the peninsula.
Public Transport
If you arrive by bus, you will descend at the bus station (Otogar) in Kas. You might take a cab or a minibus (Dolmus).
If you want to go by dolmus you should walk a hundred meters to the centre (down hill) and wait opposite the Migros.
Every half hour (high season) there will be a dolmus with the sign: "Cukurbag Yarim Adasi" and "Peninsula".
We can advise you with taxi transfer and rent -a -car from Dalaman and Antalya to Kas.
