Description of holiday villa near Fiscardo, Kefalonia

A unique 240 square metre villa with 4 double bedrooms and 2 private swimming pools. Built in 2001, Alt Mare is nestled on a hillside surrounded by lush natural Kefalonian vegetation. The sunset views from this villa are quite spectacular. Within 5 minutes walking distance is the small Alaties Beach with beautiful clear waters, natural sea salt pools and a charming taverna.
The villa is set on two levels and can accommodate a maximum of eight people in total confort.

The property offers a unique combination of design and natural beauty, as the views from all rooms are quite breathtaking. the furniture is a tasteful combination of Bauhaus and original old Balinese pieces and although the setting is natural, modern technology has not been neglected; there is a satellite television as well as a free high speed wifi Internet connection.

The main entrance to the villa is on the upper level, directly into the 80 m2 living room with huge picture window alowing a panoramic view of the seascape. From here there is a direct access to the upper teak terraces and main swimming pool. The fully equiped kitchen and guest cloakroom are also on this level.

The lower garden level can be accessed via the internal staircase and also from a separate entrance outside. On this level you will find 4 double bedrooms and a small office room. Two of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and two share a bathroom. All bedrooms have air conditionning, wooden floor, double beds and fantastic views. The second pool is on that same garden level.

Alto Mare is superbly equipped for the outdoor living that can be enjoyed throughout the summer months in the Mediterranean. The quality of furnishings and attention to detail are the same high standard as the interior of the villa. To ensure that guest are always comfortable, there is an abundance of outside furniture and umbrellas. These include rattan plush sofa with cushions, stylish teak loungers, outdoor relaxing bed, and upright chairs.

Due to the facilities offered at Altomare Villa, it is not really necessary to leave the house to enjoy the area. This has been indicated by the fact that more guest, whether staying for a week, don't often leave the property. Everything required for total relaxation is to hand.

Location description

Kefalonia, at 688.8 square kilometres has 365 villages and is the largest of the seven Ionian islands. Agriculture, wine making and bee-keeping are still important sources of income and the island has remained surprisingly unspoilt. The terrain is rugged and surprisingly green due to the high winter rainfall.

Fiscardo is a natural harbour village situated on the northern tip of Kefalonia. In addition to the traditional fishing boats still in operation, there is a daily influx of sailing boats and impressive motor yachts during the summer months. 
A marvellous place to sit and soak up the ambience, Fiscardo has a good selection of quayside coffee shops and tavernas where one can relax and watch the world go by. Fiscardo of an evening takes on a unique Mediterranean atmosphere not easily discovered in today's busy world. Younger visitors to the area will enjoy the safe, low-key night life and Fiscardo also offers the opportunity to take some interesting boat trips or even hire your own boat for the day.

Altomare Villa is located just 7 kilometres from Fiscardo and only 5 minutes walk from Alaties beach with crystal clear water, natural rock pools and a charming taverna. The sea views and facilities make Altomare a place you won't wish to leave. However, nearby Fiscardo is wonderful for a change of mood and a convenient place to change money, pick up a newspaper.

Village Manganos with supermarket, fruits & vegetables and taverna is 3km. Fiskardo 8km. In addition to nearby shops in Manganos, Fiscardo harbour has 3 supermarkets and a wide range of coffee shops, souvenir shops, bars, and waterside tavernas.

Other activities

Interesting boat trips to the nearby Ithaka, ScorpiosOnassis Island and Lefkas Island. You can also hire your own small motor boat for the day, or go sailing around with a private sailing boat (with or without skipper)

Tourist attractions

The famous and much photographed beach of Myrtos (1/2 hour car) and the Venetian fort and village of Assos are just a 20 minute drive away.
