Description

Daisy Cottage is also our own holiday home, a 100 year old house in the centre of a busy little village in south Donegal. We renovated Daisy Cottage to have all mod cons whilst still retaining lots of it's old world charm.

And as we ourselves love to cook and entertain, we have made the kitchen/diner the heart of our home. We have fitted good quality units, granite work tops, a large side by side fridge/freezer which also dispenses ice cubes, crushed ice and chilled, filtered water on demand.

The kitchen has many extras:
• Dishwasher, hob, oven, microwave, kettle & toaster
• Veg/fish steamer, veg/fruit juicer, salad spinner, pop corn maker, electric mixer, coffee machine
• Good quality kitchen knives, colour coded chopping boards, a large range of cooking pots, pans, wok, baking trys/tins and many utensils
• Lots of dishes including serving dishes, Pyrex dishes, matching dinner plates, side plates, bowls, cups, saucers and cutlery.
• Wine glasses, brandy glasses, champagne glasses, tumblers, Irish coffee glasses and sundae glasses.

There are also cookery books, picnic/outdoor dishes, cool box and ice blocks. The large table seats 12 and there is also a very good quality baby high chair. Tea-towels and dish-clothes are supplied.

The living room has 3 comfy sofas, and open fire, flat screen tv with freeview, cd & dvd player, cds & dvds.

The bedrooms - one bedroom and en-suite is on the ground floor.

Four further bedrooms, two of which are en-suite, are upstairs together with a family bathroom. Bedding is good quality, pure white cotton and towels are supplied for one week (2 face/wash cloths, 2 hand towels, 2 bath towels per person) these are white and very good quality. We also supply one beach towel per person. The beds and mattresses are all brand new and good quality.

There is a separate utility area with washing machine, dryer, iron, ironing board.

Outside we have a games loft with air hockey/pool table and dart board.

We also have a covered, paved patio area for outdoor dining (even if it rains!) and an attached orchard garden. These areas are private to the house.

Location description

Donegal is one of the most scenic counties in Ireland and being on the coast (north west) we have many large sandy beaches. We have the highest sea cliffs in Europe just a short drive from Daisy Cottage, the fishing port of Killybegs where freshly caught fish can be bought most days is but a few miles along the road, there are many ancient sites to explore including seeing an old cross that pre-dates the High Crosses of Ireland, dolmens, castles, and so on.

There are many great restaurants within short driving distances and they vary between casual, family dining to 5 star dining. For photographers and artists there can hardly be a more beautiful place with lots of stunning views. For water sports, fishing (sea, river and lake), surfing, diving, and swimming you will be spoiled with choices.

For walkers it is possible to take your walk/hike in locations where you are guaranteed to get miles of open countryside to explore. Safe, sandy beaches, an adventure water park a 30 minute drive away, a garden and patio area at Daisy Cottage, and family friendly eateries make it an ideal location for the children too.

Friendly pubs & bars, many with frequent live music, including traditional Irish music make it a haven for lovers of a bit of nightlife too.

Other activities

Horse riding, fishing (sea, river and lake), diving ~ at the end of St. John's Point just a little way from Daisy Cottage has crystal clear diving waters, wind surfing and board surfing is catered for in nearby areas with some of the best surf waves in Ireland,
