Limousin holiday house, �Vacances Vertes les Belles� in the beautiful "the land of a thousand lakes".

We can welcome a maximum of 14 people in 6 bedrooms with 5 private, ensuite bathrooms. For guests who use a wheelchair, we have a ground-floor accessible bedroom and bathroom.

There is a large but cosy lounge, with 2 convertible double sofa beds, collection of reading material, satellite TV, DVD player and DVD library. There is also a wood-burning stove for those chilly evenings.

Adjoining the lounge, is the large kitchen. We love this big, open-plan space... There is a huge kitchen table / benches and the kitchen offers you everything you might find in your own house.. Dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, coffee maker, big cooker, toaster, loads of tasteful white crockery...

Although the house is in the heart of the village, you will have the best of both worlds, as once you step out of the back door, the peaceful views of open countryside really make you feel like you are in a more remote spot.

The attractive terrace (with barbecue) is a wonderful location for a relaxing drink or meal on a warm summer's evening. The terrace leads out onto the large, private and family-friendly garden lawn and is a great spot for watching wild birds!

All linen, towels, electricity, wood for the stove and heating are included in the price of the rental - every room has central heating and double-glazing, making this a fantastic holiday destination in winter too!

We also try and be as child-friendly as possible � we can provide useful items that will help you to enjoy your stay e.g. cots, toys, baby bath, stair gate, high chair... Just make sure you ask when booking.

Location description

We are situated in the heart of the peaceful village of Saint Germain les Belles, just 30 minutes south of Limoges, in the Haute-Vienne region of Limousin (10 minutes from junction 42 of the A20 motorway).

If you really don't want to hire a car during your stay, you can find everything you need, right on your doorstep.. The village has several small, local shops (selling everything from bread and pastries to fruit, meat and vegetables), a network of country walks, a rail service to Limoges and a swimming lake, complete with sandy beach!

During the warmer months (May to September), this lake can provide really great (and free!) entertainment for families with children. In July and August, there is also a bar, where during the day, you can buy snacks and ice creams and in the evening enjoy regular music and dining events.

Saint Germain les Belles is ideally situated to explore Limousin, which is often called �the French Lake District'. We can guarantee that it will offer you some of the most unspoiled natural landscapes in France.

Other activities

For the outdoor enthusiast, looking for a more active holiday, there are numerous things to do and beautiful places to see. Bicycle hire is available within the village and there are many local routes through quiet country villages. The abundance of lakes and rivers also means that there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy fishing, canoeing and sailing.

We can provide lots of useful information about 'what's going on'! Throughout the year, there are lots of local markets, festivals and outdoor 'repas'...

Tourist attractions

There are many other swimming lakes, beaches and outdoor swimming pools in our area. Beautiful Lake Vassiviere, Europe's largest man-made lake, is only 45 minutes away and is also the site of the national contemporary art gallery.

Thirty minutes to the north, is the attractive city of Limoges - famous for its porcelain and old quarter. Spend a day there and discover interesting boutiques, medieval churches, restaurants and antique markets. The other historic towns and villages in our area are also well worth a visit, including Segur le Ch�teau, one of the most beautiful villages in France; Uzerche on the stunning V�z�re River; Pompadour (La Cit� du Cheval) and its frequent equestrian events and ch�teau; Tulle, with its picturesque winding streets and cafes�

We provide many useful leaflets and brochures on local attractions and places to visit. There is also a tourist information office just a short walk away and they will also be able to give you tips about things to see and do in Limousin.

Directions

You can find us in the village of St Germain les Belles, 4 hours south of Paris (270 miles / 425 km) and 30 minutes south of Limoges (22 miles / 35 km), the 'capital' of Limousin, in Haute-Vienne. The village is conveniently located just 10 minutes drive from the A20 motorway (junction 42), the main route from Paris to the south of France.

We would encourage you to use a more environmentally-friendly means of travel... if you're travelling from the UK, why not take the Eurostar train to Paris? After a quick change across town, Limoges is only a few hours away on a fast inter-city service. You can find more information on the English SNCF website.

The nearest airports are Limoges (40 minutes) and Bergerac (2 hours) and both are accessible through Flybe and Ryanair from more than 10 UK regional airports.
