Description of holiday house in Sainteny, Normandy

Our house is set in the heart of the village, across the square from the local bar and church, a short walk back to the main road finds the bakery, butchery and Post office/grocery shop.

The house has a sitting room with electric fire, a dining room with an open fire, fully fitted kitchen with all modern appliances, there are two toilets downstairs, one with a disabled bath.

Upstairs we have 3 bedrooms, one is a double, one a twin and the third has 4 single beds, there is also a shower room upstairs.

Outside to the rear is a private secure garden with a patio area, BBQ and lawn.

Location description

We are within the American sector of the Normandy invasion, with the American invasion beaches and museums close by, Carentan, made famous by the "Band of brothers" tv show is 10km away, whilst St Mere Eglise, site of the airborne museum is 16km. We are within 30 minutes of the historic towns of Bayeaux, St Lo and Coutances. The nearset beach is 20 minutes away at Utah beach, whilst Omaha beach and the beaches on the west coast of the Cotenin penisula are with a 30 minute drive. There are at least 3, 18 or 27 hole golf courses within a 30 minute drive .

Tourist attractions

Utah beach museum, Airborne Museum at St Mere Eglise, Omaha Beach and museum, Bayeux with it's tapestry and museums, Granville, birthplace of Christian Dior. Grandcamp maisy is a busy local fishing port.

Directions

We are less than 1km from D971 and 10km from RN13, a dual carrigeway which runs between Cherbourg and Caen and eventually Paris. The is a mainline railway station in Carentan.
