A Family Holiday Home In The Gironde
A beautifully refurbished 3 bedroom 19th century house that sleeps up to 8 persons. The house is set amongst the famous Bordeaux vineyards and has breathtaking views. Although in a peaceful and tranquil setting, the house is close to the village of Ruch.

Bordeaux and Bergerac airport are under an hours drive away by car. TGV train stops at Libourne approx 20 kilometres away and cars can be hired there.

The house has a large comfortably furnished living room with traditional French open fireplace. English and French TV, DVD player plus good selection of DVDs and books, there is a broadband connection. Logs are provided during spring and autumn occupation.

There are three bedrooms; one on the ground floor and two upstairs with open views of the surrounding countryside.

The garden provides a totally safe playing area for children or a haven of peace for adults, well away from any traffic. There is a large south facing terrace equipped for eating al fresco. Wood from old vines provided for the barbeque to give your cooking that special flavour.

Children are welcome.

French speaking English owners are normally resident in their own self contained accommodation. Guests have exclusive use of the garden.

Location description

Ruch
The village of Ruch, which is one mile away from the house boasts a bar/restaurant, a post office/shop and tennis courts.
Within the local area there are lakes with beaches, cafes and children's play areas which are only a few minutes drive away, ideal for those who do not want to drive to the coast. There is canoeing and there are boat trips on the Dordogne river.

Places of interest:

Saint Emilion
This picturesque medieval town has many beautiful historic buildings including a monolithic church. Saint Emilion is also world famous for its Grand Cru wines.

Castillon La Bataille
A large market town situated on the banks of the Dordogne river where the last battle of the Hundred Years War was fought. The Battle of Castillon is re enacted in the months of July and August. This memorable spectacle is not to be missed.

Libourne
A popular market town was founded in 1268 by Prince Edward, Duke of Aquitaine and once had a thriving port.

Arcachon basin and the Atlantic coast
The Atlantic coast has mile upon mile of sandy beaches, dunes and pine forests. Arcachon is a lively seaside town with a lovely beach and many good restaurants.

Bordeaux
The great City of Bordeaux is full of history and had good trading links with England in medieval times. It has all the amenities of a large city; you can drive to the outskirts of the city to the Park and Ride and pick up a tram to the centre, which is great fun for children and parents alike.
