Description of holiday house in Prades, Languedoc-Roussillon

LES JETS is a lovely village house which has been newly renovated and restored and offers spacious and comfortable accommodation over 3 floors. On the ground floor there is double bedroom and shower room and a laundrey/storage room very useful for bikes and ski-ing equipment. The stairs take you up to the salle de séjour - a large open plan kitchen diner and lounge. Doors open out onto a lovely secluded and sunny garden, with a patio and barbecue and plenty of room to sunbathe. The third floor has 2 large double bedrooms both ensuite, one with a bath and one with a shower.

MOLITG VILLAGE is well placed for easy access to the many exciting and relaxing activities that the Pyrenees has to offer. Ski-ing around Font Romeau and the mediterranean beaches in Argeles are both a 45 - 60 minute drive away, whilst the freshwater swimming lake and beach at Vinca is just 10km.

THE LITTLE YELLOW TRAIN & SKIING: One highlight close by is the medieval fortified town of Villefranche-en-Conflent, and its grottes (cave complexes) with spectacular stalactites and stalagmites. From Villefranche you can take the Petit Train Jaune (Little Yellow Train) which winds up into the Pyrenees at a leisurely pace, dropping walkers in picturesque villages or skiers higher up in the ski resorts. Mont Louis is another fine fortified town on the train route.

BEACHES, THE COAST, CASTLES AND SPAIN: Languedoc-Roussillon offers not only wide, sandy beaches and mountains, but also the stunning Cathar castles and vineyards of the Corbières hills, within an hour's drive to the north. The region is dotted with Cathar castles, museums, vineyards and orchards, churches and monasteries, and feels truly Catalan.

Towards the coast, you can reach Perpignan, capital of Roussillon, in 30 minutes, and the Mediterranean within 45 minutes. Head south to the little fishing towns and beaches of the Côte Vermeille - Collioure is a beautiful old small town with fortified harbour and château, and Le Racou is a pretty seaside village with a good sandy beach.

The Spanish coast (the Costa Brava) with its little coves and villages is a little further. The border is reached within an hour, and the beautiful towns of Cadaques and Figueres beyond. Barcelona itself is only a couple of hours' motorway drive away.

Directions

Molitg is approximately equidistant between the French Mediterranean coast just North of the Spanish border, and the ski resorts around Font Romeu. If you are flying then the closest airport is Perpignan (40 minutes away), served by Ryanair, BMI Baby and FlyBe. Other airports easily accessible are Barcelona-Girona (1h30mins by autoroute), Montpellier and Toulouse (2 hours by autoroute).
