A golf cart provided by the owners and your rental boat will be your means of transportation out into the calm Sea of Abaco and nearby islands.

    Indulge yourself in this boater's paradise. Swim, snorkle, beach comb, fish, dive, dine on fresh seafood at fine restaurants or casual beach bars.

    Gone Bananas on Lubbers is a brand new vacation home (completed in June, 2010). It’s the perfect comfortable retreat at the end of your adventurous day in the islands or a delightful place for just relaxing. Furniture and all amenities were chosen with the discriminating guest in mind. The owners live on the island and are always available for any assistance or tips on what to do. Gone Bananas has two components. “Top Banana” accommodates 4 people. “Banana Split” can be rented in conjunction with “Top Banana” if more space is needed.

    “Top Banana” is literally in the treetops…where the gentle breezes blow. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen size bed, its own bathroom, and ample closet space. The fully equipped kitchen provides everything for preparing your gourmet meals or simply cooking up the day’s catch. A spacious great room and dining area include Direct TV, DVR, and an ipod docking station. Free internet access is available. The house is fully air-conditioned, and the large deck is most comfortable with its breezes and ceiling fans. A lookout deck above the house is fun for sunset watching, stargazing, or sunbathing.

    “Banana Split” is a ground level separate apartment. Also tastefully decorated and well equipped, it has one bedroom, one bath, a kitchenette, eating and sitting area. The queen size bed in the bedroom and the futon (opens to full bed) in the sitting area can accommodate up to 4 people. The kitchen has ample counter space, a two burner stove top, a microwave, and a full size refrigerator. Direct TV, DVD, and free internet access are also provided in Banana Split.

    Directions

    The guest should book flights to Florida....Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, or Miami. Several airlines serve these cities with direct flights to Marsh Harbour International Airport (MHH). The major airlines serving MHH are American Eagle and United (Silver Air) Contact owner for other options on smaller planes and from other Florida destinations. Upon arriving at the airport in Marsh Harbour, the guest takes a taxi into town to buy supplies. Arrangements will be made to transport guest to the island of Lubbers Quarters....where no car will be needed, only a boat.

    Great Vacation on Lubbers

    We had a great time on our Abaco vacation, and liked our accommodations on Gone Bananas in particular. We stayed in the upstairs portion (Top Banana) , and it was spacious and luxurious. It had both high speed internet (so I could take care of work e-mails before starting our day) and satilite TV. It was much newer and more cleaner than other properties we have stayed at, and really earns the “luxury vacation” label. The boat dock was just down the road, so with a boat rental all the attractions of the area (fishing, snorkeling, etc.) are very close at hand. We had a great time and plan to return next year!
