Description of holiday house in Loule, Algarve
The house is set on a quiet traffic-free cobbled street which can be dated back to the 13th century. The house itself was rebuilt from a ruin in the early 1990's by the previous owner who lived in it for 18 years.
The houses' features include terracotta floor tiles, whitewashed walls & a high vaulted ceiling made of eucalyptus poles & bamboo. There is one double bedroom with a built in wardrobe. Above this is a mezzanine floor with a double sofa bed & further storage. The kitchen, living & dining areas are open plan. The kitchen has a traditional portuguese chimney, there is a wood burning stove in the living area and large glass double doors in the dining area leading to the terrace.
The terrace is south facing, private & has open views to the south & west. There is a table with parasol & 4 chairs for al-fresco dining, 2 sun loungers for relaxing & a barbeque for entertaining. There are numerous potted plants around (on an automatic irrigation system).
Overall, the house has a traditional charm & homely feel.

Location description
Loule is an historic market town which has been in existence since at least the 11th century & there are plenty of historic churches, museums, etc. to explore. However the daily market, which on Saturdays spills out onto the streets, is itself worth a visit. Also, Saturday hosts the 'gypsy' market which draws people from miles around! The nearest beach is at Quarteira, 8kms. to the south. Just to the east of Quarteira are some quieter beaches such as Praia do Almargem & Praia do Trafal, which are worth seeking out. However if you don't fancy the beach, Loule has a fantastic municipal pool featuring indoor & outdoor pools, bar, snack bar & plenty of space for sunbathing, and is very reasonable. For only a few euros each you can stay as long as you like!
Other activities
Walking, Cycling & picnics in the stunning countryside to the north are a favourite.
Local events
'Gypsy' market on Saturdays, Carnival in February, Jazz festival in July.

Directions
Transfers can be arranged for additional cost (payable locally).
Leave the Airport and follow signs for the N125. After about 3kms, take a right turn &
join the N125 [sometimes called EN125] heading North following signs for LOULÉ.
Follow this road until you enter Loulé. When you reach a set of traffic lights at a crossroads, follow the traffic turning LEFT at the signpost for Boliqueime, Villamoura and Quarteira into Rua Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco.
Rua Da Mouraria is the 4th lane on the left hand side, just before you go down the hill, (look out for Golfinhio snack bar on left, from there we are 3rd on the left.)
You can park at the top of the lane to unload and there are spaces all along this street.
There is also a carpark slightly further up this street on the right accessed through a brick archway and signposted Igreja Matriz and Centro Historico.
To access Loulé from the A22. Take Junction 12 signposted Loulé.
At the BP Station turn right signposted CENTRO. This takes you into Rua Engenheiro Duarte Pacheco. As you come up the hill with the old castle wall in front of you, Rua Da Mouraria is the first street on the right.
