La Vieille Distillerie, an elegant Maison de Maitre, was built in 1850 and updated in 1926 giving the house a feel of Art Decco. It is available to rent from April 2009 and can be rented all through the year. The property is being beautifully finished to a high standard to provide maximum comfort for our guests and will provide a swimming pool. .

There is also a Gite sleeping 2/4 people which can be rented in conjunction with the house for larger parties. (see our our other entries for Gite and bed and breakfast and also our website www.lavieilledistillerie.com).

The accommodation:

There are 4 bedrooms, 3 with ensuite facilities. There is a small adjoining bedroom leading from a double bedroom suitable for one adult or child. There is a double room and a twin room. Adjacent to these rooms is a small twin room which is suitable for families sharing. The accommodation is ideal for 9 people and extra beds can be provided making it suitable for parties of 11.

The main sitting room is spacious. There is satellite TV, a DVD player, radio and CD player.

A large hallway separates the sitting room from the dining room. The dining table comfortably seats 8/10 people There are open fireplaces in both rooms.

Farmhouse kitchen 5 metres square with range cooker with 6 gas rings, 2 electric ovens and an electric grill, microwave, table and chairs seating 6, buffet/dresser, fridgefreezer, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer.

Location description

We are an excellent base for house hunters being near the borders of three Departments, the Charente Maritime, the Gironde and the Dordogne.

BORDEAUX: 1 hour's drive - a UNESCO Heritage site, has magnificent 18th century buildings. Wide boulevards with fashionable shops, boutiques and restaurants, sweep down to the Garonne river.

ANGOULEME: famous for the Classic cars race and rally - Circuit des Remparts -held during a weekend each September. The cars compete in an exciting race round the hairpin bends of the city's ramparts. wly refurbished museum with artifacts from the Charente. The cathedral is a magnificent example of romanesque architecture amidst the narrow cobbled streets with restaurants offering cuisine from all around the world. Car owners can also join in in an all-day rally through the picturesque Charentaise countryside. September 2009 Classic Cars Race weekend 17th-20th.
