Description of holiday house in Kingussie, Highlands
Situated in the delightful town of Kingussie, in the Cairngorms National Park, this exceptional detached house boasts spacious accommodation for 14 to 16 people. There are 6 large bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen/diner with a wood burning stove, a stunning 40 foot sitting room/dining hall with a banqueting table made from a reclaimed door.
The sitting room has a large wood burning stove, a pool table and a piano. There is a fully equipped TV/playroom that can double as a 7th bedroom with plenty of toys, games and books, Freeview TV, DVD player and video, and a selection of films.
Upstairs there is a Reading Gallery with sag bags, armchair and two full bookshelves, ideal for a chill out zone. Free unlimited Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.
Most of the house is on the ground floor - with just the Family Room and Reading Gallery up one flight of stairs. Access is at street level and most of the doors are original and therefore quite wide.
On sunny days alfresco dining can take place all day in the spacious south facing courtyard, where there is a BBQ, a long table, 10 chairs and an optional 3 metre parasol. The courtyard is private and can be accessed from the back door in the Utility Room.
Adjacent to the property is a Bowling Green and a Park which can be used for ball games, and along the road is an excellent Play Park which is also brilliant for sledging in the snow.
At the centre of 'Monarch of the Glen' country, Kingussie has a good selection of hotels and restaurants, and a beautiful golf course. There is a Highland Wild Life Park and a unique area of wetlands popular with bird watchers - Insh Marshes. 2 miles away is a Highland Folk Museum – voted Scotland’s Best Visitor Experience 2010 – where demonstrations of traditional crafts take place in a village setting with people wearing costumes from earlier times.
Just 12 miles north is Aviemore, a popular destination for winter sports, hill walking and mountaineering . There are miles of excellent cycle tracks for all abilities amidst spectacular scenery, and whisky enthusiasts can tour Dalwhinnie distillery just a few miles away. Watersports are available at Loch Insh just 7 miles away and Britain’s favourite picnic spot is 14 miles away at the gorgeous Loch An Eilan.
You can order shopping in advance at a local shop and it will be delivered to the house free of charge – details on request. All linen and towels are supplied. Changed on a weekly basis, usually a Friday. For stays longer than one week cleaning days can be arranged to suit.
This property is ideally suited to extended family gatherings, two families together or holiday groups.
