Situated in the heart of the historic Bastide Saint Louis. We’re not just ‘near Carcassonne’, we’re central for everything! No need to hire a car. You can walk to the medieval La Cite, Canal du Midi, Place Carnot, River Aude and enjoy having great amenities just minutes away. This is a town of festivals and events, wonderful food, wine and friendly local people. Steeped in history and beautiful South of France sunshine!
The house dates back to 1624 and was renovated in 2009, retaining many original features. Guests will find many personal touches that make this house feel more like a home than standard holiday accommodation.
Furnished as a romantic 'home from home' you can enjoy the spacious master bedroom featuring an original fireplace, solid oak floor, luxury linens and access through to your en-suite bathroom complete with roll-top bath, separate walk-in shower and exposed brickwork. The kitchen is well equipped with a full oven / hob, solid oak worktops, character sink and taps, microwave, dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment and all the pots, pans and culinary equipment you need to enjoy eating in. There's also a table and chairs on our sunny terrace for dining 'al-fresco'. The living area has 2 large sofas, a flat screen TV with DVD and a good library of films to choose from. There's also a CD player with iPod dock, games and lots of books to stretch out and relax with.
The property is laid out over three levels with bike storage on the ground floor, large master bedroom and en-suite bathroom on the first floor and finally, at the top of the house, your lounge and kitchen with doors opening out onto your own terrace, perfect for relaxing at any time of the day.

Deposit/Booking Notes: A 50% deposit is payable to secure your booking - preferred payment method is bank transfer but cheque or PayPal is also accepted. The balance plus a £200 security deposit is due 28 days before arrival. Please ensure you have adequate travel insurance as we cannot offer refunds - we are happy to negotiate alternative dates though if the property is available. Cleaning is included in the weekly rate. Laundry costs are an additional 30 euros per couple payable in cash at the end of your stay.

Location description
Being situated in the Bastide Saint Louis, you have the convenience of having everything within walking distance, including shops, bank, post office, the market square, many restaurants, theatres, museums - the list is endless! And that's not forgetting the many local boulangeries - perfect for those warm croissants for breakfast each morning.Carcassonne is a fantastic area to explore, whether you're interested in its Cathar history (La Cite is not to be missed), or touring the plentiful vineyards, cruising along the Canal du Midi, swimming in the River Aude or sampling the culinary delights of the various markets and restaurants. At the end of the day you can relax on our sunny terrace with a glass of wine and continue to soak up the atmosphere of this charming French town.

Directions
It's easy to visit Carcassonne with low cost airline Ryanair flying direct from several UK airports including Stansted, Glasgow and East Midlands.
Once here there is a shuttle bus which meets each flight direct and takes about ten minutes to arrive at the train station which is just a short stroll from the house crossing the Canal du Midi into the historic Bastide. The price per adult is 5 euros and your ticket remains valid for local travel for the rest of the day.
You can also choose to arrive by train from Paris, Toulouse or (via Narbonne) Montpellier, Perpignan and even Barcelona. Neighbouring towns are easily accessible by train including Limoux (Blanquette, the region's equivalent to Champagne is made here), Castelnaudary (famous for its Cassoulet, the region's speciality dish) and Alet-les-Bains, a delightful spa town.
