Southclay: front door
(1/12)
Description of holiday house near Bideford, South West
Southclay is perfect for family holidays, for groups of friends or special celebrations. It has 5 spacious bedrooms, two en-suite, sleeping 10 (+ 2 on sofa beds in one of the twins) a large kitchen, conservatory, lounge with wood burner, a second ‘snug’ lounge and games room.
Outside, a large and secure garden lawn stretches down to green fields, beyond which lies the North Devon coast. The garden contains a barbecue terrace, hot tub and tennis court plus a good-size heated outdoor swimming pool shared with the owners’ house.
To create a welcoming and memorable luxury holiday home rental, Jacquie, the owner, endeavours to think of everything to help your holiday run smoothly, to ensure a really warm welcome and truly personal service.
The property is approached from a private car parking area where there is ample space for up to 5 cars and a double garage. From the porch, a solid oak front door welcomes you to the entrance hall with slate floor, coat hooks and downstairs WC.
To the right, three steps to a delightful, spacious living room with a view of fields leading down to the coast and across the sea to Lundy Island. A cosy wood burning stove adds a warm glow in winter; Comfortable leather sofas in cream and dark brown and a modern TV with Freeview, video, DVD and music station complete the room.
French doors open onto the raised patio and private lawn in the back garden beyond which is a full sized tennis court.
Two further rooms lead from the living room. A small second living/child friendly room equipped with toys, children’s books and a play-station makes a great child/teenage escape zone or simply the ideal place to de-clutter the rest of the house from toys and noisy young things!
A spacious games room with beautiful solid oak floor links the conservatory with the lounge. Complete with pool table, card table, keyboard and a separate jigsaw puzzle/games table and chairs. You will also find puzzles and games for all ages plus a small library which includes maps, reference and historical books about the area.
To the left of the entrance hall a huge kitchen will delight even the most demanding chef. Well-equipped with two fridges; two large ovens; both induction and gas hobs; two sinks and a microwave, all arranged around a large central island, Chef’s need not cook alone. An additional sofa to one side, loads of natural light and a kitchen radio and CD player creates a very sociable area to cook. When the knives are sharp and the drinks are chilled, how can preparing a feast be a chore even on holiday?
A utility room with rear door, large Belfast sink, washing machine, tumble drier and a separate larder with an additional fridge and freezer add to the kitchen’s superb facilities.
Glass double doors lead from the kitchen to a large conservatory used as a dining room seating 10 with ease, 12 with a squeeze. Modern floor lights illuminate the conservatory’s slate floor; the moon and stars shine down from above to create the perfect ambience for a special feast! Patio doors lead down two more steps to the outdoor seating/eating/barbequing area for those guests who prefer to eat alfresco while enjoying frequently spectacular sunsets over the sea.
Luxury accommodation standards continue on the 5 bedroom first floor of the House. Sit up in a 6ft king-size bed in the master bedroom and admire the view, or lounge in a comfy chair set at the window. This room has a beautiful marble en-suite bathroom with double shower cubicle, bidet, double bath and WC.
Four other tastefully decorated bedrooms, offer a further double bedroom (with en-suite) two twin-bedded rooms and generous 3foot-wide bunk-beds in the last room. South Clay sleeps 10 plus space for 2 more on sofa beds in the twin room and of course, there’s a cot also available.
The family bathroom with a large corner bath and a wet room style shower, like the others is fully tiled and also has beautiful fittings and the bedrooms are just what would be expected from such a stylish house, comfortable beds, fantastic views and televisions in every room.
A particular feature of the property is the raised patio and large enclosed, sunny garden with adjacent swimming pool all with panoramic views. It is ideal for relaxing or al fresco dining with spectacular sunsets over the sea. For the more energetic, a game of tennis can be enjoyed on the fabulous full-size tennis court or a dip in the heated outdoor pool adjacent to the property and shared with the owners. There is also a private six-man hot tub outside the living room window in which to soak your cares away; to rinse the children; to party into the night or simply to star gaze...
