Description of holiday house in Bellegarde du Razes, Languedoc-Roussillon
Le Fizzerie is a newly built house, situated within two acres of private land in the typical and very friendly french hamlet of Bellegarde du Razes. There is a huge terrace ideal for dining out on, simply laying back relaxing in a chair on a warm summers day, or to admire the view of the vineyards with a glass of the locally produced wine as you watch the sun go down. In the summer months there is an above ground swimming pool for you to take a dip and cool off in. "Above ground" swimming pools are ideal for families with children, as they are regarded far safer than an "in-ground" pool, however, still great fun for adults too!
Le Fizzerie is very well equipped, as it hopes to have that "home from home" feel. There is a spacious kitchen with all of the amenities you would expect to find in a modern home, including a large oven with five hobs, a very large American style fridge/freezer, a microwave, slow cooker (in case you want to go out exploring all day and come home to the wonderful smell of a slow cooked meal.) and a full supply of cooking utensils, pots and pans. There is also a dishwasher (well, you are on holiday!) and a washing machine.
The dining room has two double French doors and two large windows firstly allowing a lot of natural light all day, and secondly to provide you with a 180 degree view whilst sat at the table, allowing you to eat whilst still being able to admire the view.
There is a large lounge, with plenty of seating, and if you wanted to sit back and relax on the sofa, and maybe watch a bit of TV, there is a 50inch LCD screen for you to do so on. Fully equipped with a blue-ray DVD player and UK satellite TV channels, so you don't have to miss those favourite programs of yours if you don't want to. If you would prefer to bring the family together and play a popular board game, there are several for you to choose from.
In addition to the downstairs shower room, there is a family bathroom upstairs, and three double bedrooms sleeping six.
Le Fizzerie is also equipped with WiFi throughout the house, in case you need to catch up on any emails.
Bellegarde du Razes, yet quiet and peaceful, is only fifteen minutes from the historic town of Limoux, and twenty minutes from the larger medieval town of Carcassonne. Both are absolutely breath taking and are a must visit! In these towns there is an excellent range of bars, restaurants, and shops for any amenities. For local amenities there is the neighboring town of Belveze which has a small supermarket, bakery, market and butchers. This is only five minutes away.

Needless to say there are many of restaurants all with amazing views, where you may want to try out the fresh fish dishes! All this is only 1hr 15mins away!If stunning dramatic scenery is what you are after, the drive to Quillan is a must! Only a 30mins drive away, you can be driving around the side of mountains and through them! Where sometimes the mountains have been carved out forming arch ways through which you drive! As well as being very dramatic scenery, here you can try out the white water rafting, canoeing and kayaking for the day.
Carcassonne is a historic landmark. A huge medieval castle which you can explore inside. Look out for new years eve there! Each year they have an unforgettable display of fireworks, something not to miss!
If you are visiting in either the summer or the winter, the Pyrenees are only a short drive away. In fact, you can see the foothills of them from Bellegarde du Razes! In the summer, enjoy the extensive mountain walks that can be done. Andorra and the surrounding areas offer a wide choice of walks for all different abilities.
If skiing, snowboarding, or any type of winter sports is the reason you visit......you will not be disappointed! Ax-Les-Thermes is simply beautiful. The slopes offer a very large mountain range, suitable for any type of winter activity, from beginners to advanced abilities. The slopes have an "alpine" feel to them, with lots of cross country and off-piste skiing. Ax-Les-Thermes is only 1hr 10mins away! Perfect for either a full day or just an afternoon. Whilst you are there, you can also try out the natural hot baths!!
If you prefer something a lot more lively in the evenings, then Andorra is only just under 2 hours away. Pas de la Casa, is the highest mountain range around and has extremely extensive mountain ranges! Be sure to visit the "Ice Bar" as you ski down the mountains!
There are many more attractions and places to visit around the area, however I shall leave those to explain to you in my welcome book!
Bellegarde du Razes is a typical peaceful and quiet french hamlet, nestled into the hillside. However, if you are here when the locals get together to celebrate, you will find yourself dancing in the streets, singing along as well! The village is very friendly, and many of the locals speak fluent English.
In the nearby town of Mirepoix, only tens mins drive away, each Monday there is a large market which you browse around offering local produce such as wine, cheese, meats, flowers and much much more.
Limoux is only a ten minute drive away and is well worth a visit. It is here that the local wine is produce, which has a fascinating history, with some saying that the local wine predates champagne!
