Location description
Kata Beach:Kata is formed by some narrow roads lined with shops, restaurants, dive shops and hotels. The beach in front of it is large and clean. It΄s just a few kilometres from Patong to Karon and it takes about 15 minutes going slowly on a motorbike. A few minutes more and you will be at the Kata and Kata Noi beaches. It is possible to find bars and some entertainment in both Kata and Karon, but not on the same intense level as Patong.
As beaches go both Kata and Karon are better than Patong, a bit quieter, with less nightlife and entertainment.

Loy Krathong
Loy Krathong is held on the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar. In the western calendar this usually falls in November. "Loi" means "to float". "Krathong" is a raft about a handspan in diameter traditionally made from a section of banana tree trunk (although modern-day versions use specially made bread 'flowers' and may use styrofoam), decorated with elaborately-folded banana leaves, flowers, candles, incense sticks etc.
