Lara & Martin at L-m-ents welcome you and offer you the chance to get together with friends and family and have a good time in their classically Basque style 150 year old, Maison de Maitre, "Les Chenes" (The Oaks). The emphasis at Les Chenes is placed on comfort, fun and a home away from home!

Their aim is to put together for you the holiday that you want. Doing as much or as little as you feel the need for and to help you have fun, relax, put your feet up on the sofa, and enjoy your hard earned break in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere!

Les Chenes has five twin bedrooms all on the first floor, all of which can be made into doubles. Two of the rooms can also be made into triples. All the rooms are bright and newly decorated with modern en-suite shower rooms and a safe for you to place any valuables in. There is a selection of novels in each bedroom for you to read, space to hang up your clothes and the rooms are cleaned daily. The towels are dried daily.

We have a spacious living room which looks out onto our beautiful garden, terrace and pergola, within which there is a dining area, which is a great place to enjoy the barbeque evenings while surrounded by fragrant plants and flowers.

The living room has large comfortable sofas and chairs; we have a vast selection of music, videos and DVDs for your entertainment as well as satellite channels. We also have access to the internet.

Our dining room, which comfortably seats twelve, has a big central table, ideal for lively and animated conversations! There is a magnificent fire place and original beautiful wooden floors.

Within the house we also have a room with up to date, cardiovascular exercise equipment and some free weights. Your live in hosts, are both fully qualified sports therapists and sports masseurs, with well over 20 years experience between them and who also offer relaxing massage, lymphatic drainage, reflexology and shiatsu. What an ideal way to unwind after a hard day at the beach or golf course!

Our B&B prices follow the following format, for guests staying 2 nights or less, it is 35 Euros per person per night. For guests staying 3 nights or more it is 30 Euros per person per night. Our half board price which includes a quality 3 course meal with wine and coffee included is 50 Euros for evening meal, bed and breakfast.

Location description

Benesse Maremne is minutes from the beaches and golf courses of Hossegor, Capbreton and Seignosse. A little further up the road you have the famous old spa town of Dax which dates back to Roman times and in the other direction the beautiful Catherdal city of Bayonne, famous for Chocolate. Biarritz and Anglet are by Bayonne and then into the mountains the stunning Basque country. Spain is just over an hours drive from us and San Sebastian is well worth a visit, if nothing else to try the great tapas! Bordeaux and the famous wine growing areas surrounding here are less than 2 hours away and in land it is easy to loose hours enjoying the rural French country side. This whole area of France is unique and very beautiful. There is something for everyone.

Other activities

The surf in this area of France is world famous and is the best in Europe. For those looking for a more relaxed beach holiday, the beaches are groomed daily. The beaches are beautiful and golden and this coast line is some of the best in the world.

Local events

In summer, each village/town in France has a fete, so every week there is always someone to go and get involved in French fun. There are weekly markets and both golf and surf competitions going on to get involved with. There is also the local sport of Pelota Basque to either watch or try, known as the fastest ball sport in the world, very exciting! Rugby is a religion in these parts and there is often the chance to go and watch a game.

Directions

Coming from either Biarritz or Bordeaux:
Jump on the A63. You get off at junction 8 sign posted BENESSE MAREMNE and the toll is 1.60 € When you leave the toll booth, turn right over the bridge and go past the Mendy TNT transport firm on your right and across the small round about. Carry straight on until you get to a second round about and here you turn left. You are now in BENESSE MAREMNE. Go along this road until you get to the church square, on your left and turn in here next to the bar and bakers, also on your left. You will go past a small shop, hair dressers and an estate agent. Once past the estate agents you will see a small road opposite the church and you want to take this and follow it round to the end. We are the last house on the right with blue shutters, number 146.

Coming from Toulouse:
Get on the A64 and stay on until junction 6. Get off here and it is signposted St. Vincent de Tyrosse, Hossegor and Capbreton. Go straight on towards St Vincent de Tyrosse. When you get to the round about go straight on and straight on past the first set of traffic lights. At the second set turn left. (You will see an ORPI estate agent on your right at the lights.) Go through the town and carry straight on until you get to Benesse Maremne. When you see the Church on your right, turn in next to the bar and bakers. . You will go past a small shop, hair dressers and an estate agent. Once past the estate agents you will see a small road opposite the church and you want to take this and follow it round to the end. We are the last house on the right with blue shutters, number 146.
